Lac Hydrin or AmLactin lotion. You can find them at most drug stores, used to be prescription but now is OTC. If you don't find it in the lotion section they may have it in the diabetic supplies section.
Hello Ladies! Has anyone else had this...keratosis polaris? It is a skin irritation of sorts. My doctor says it is hereditary. I have passed it down to my daughter, poor thing. It doesn't hurt at all, all it is is little red dots (kind of look like pimples) and they are on our arms and legs. I do not have it on my legs, but my daughter has it a lot worse than I do. Is there anything that has helped you? I am hoping someone else has dealt with this. Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

My daughter has this as well on the back of her arms. I've learned that its very common. I instantly recognized it as something that I had as a child. Can't wait to hear what others have to say on the subject.
Keratosis pilaris is actually quite common, I have it a little on my arms and more on my thighs. If you google it you will find all sorts of websites and products, some can be very expensive. I have found that using a lotion called Lac-Hydrin Five to be quite helpful. I buy it at Walgreens, and it is not cheap ($12/bottle), but a lot better than some others (you can also buy it online). It contains alpha-hydroxy acids that help slough off the excess skin cells that are building up around the hair follicles. I use it twice a day when it is really bad, and as it improves I go to only once a day. I found perusing through the websites, learning more about the condition, reading advice from dermatologists, and looking at other peoples' reviews and recommendations to be very helpful. It is something she will deal with her whole life, being better at times, and worse other times. I hope you find something that works for her.
Hi M.!
This was actually a topic today that we discussed in the members group emails through www.Mastokids.org. My daughter has Mastocytosis. We were discussing what we call "Magic Masto Lotion" - MML. One of the members children has KP and asked if the MML would work for that as well. The nurse that helps a lot of us Masto Moms said it would. It would help with the redness and inflammation of the spots and depending on what type of KP would also help with the itchies she may have.
To make the MML we use
-2 tsp of glycerin
-1/2 cup Vanicream or other thick lotion with no dyes, fragrances etc- you can get Vanicream from your pharmacist
-1 bottle of NasalCrom (OTC)or 500mg Cromolyn powder (prescribed by a physician)
mix it well and use 2 times daily.
If you go to the above website there is some FAQ that might help you also. This is great also for Eczema, atopic dermatitis, bug bites etc. Also much more affordable than many others creams and lotions out there! I have tried a ton of others on my daughters Masto spots and finally just did this simple one!
I just mixed up my first recipe and used it only once on my daughters diaper area, she almost made an "Ahhhhhhhhhh" sound while I put it on! 2 hours later most of her "spots" on her sensitive areas were no longer red or irritated! Hers is caused by allergic reactions to many unknowns- her body produces too much histamine and does not release it properly.... very hard to explain!
Anyhow, if you have any questions feel free to ask me! I hope you find what you are looking for!
Many blessings to you and yours!
