So What Happened?

Thank you for recommending Kaiser pediatricians. Based on the location and availability, I decided to choose Dr. Rachel Ireland and couldn't be happier. She's very open-minded and patient :)

My 9 month old daughter also sees Dr. Rachel Ireland in Clairemont. She's very sweet with her and extremely thorough-always takes the time to answer ALL my questions and plays with my daughter to see her latest milestones. She is a mother of two young children herself (ages 2 and 4), and seems to really enjoy her job. She was open to adapting my wish for a modified vaccination schedule (spreading them out over several months vs. giving 4 shots in one visit per Dr. Sears' recommendation). I can't say enough great things about Dr. Ireland. I'm glad we found her!

I guess it depends on which offices are closes to you. Our pediatrician is Dr. Ireland at the Clairmont offices. She's got a great bedside manner, with both my and myself, and I like that she checks our chart BEFORE the appointment so that she's caught up with everything. She also takes time to answer ALL of our questions and gives answered both as a doctor and as a parent. She's great and my son really likes her. He's only 11 months, but everytime we see her he smiles at her as though he remembers her from the last time.

We go to the Vandever office (central SD) and we love Dr. Patricia Cantrell. Actually, everyone we've seen at that office in Pediatrics has been great (Dr.'s, nurse practitioners, etc). Good luck and welcome to SD!

If you are in the Escondido or North County area, Dr. Todd Harker is a wonderful pediatrician. He has a great way with children and my boys always enjoyed their visits with him (even when they were feeling ill). Also Dr. Cairo is a great doctor. He is quiet but a great listener and has a great bedside manner. I think both doctors also work at the main Kaiser hospital in the Mission Gorge area.
Good luck!

I have to agree with the Lady about Dr. Mattson. My son is 18 months old and has had him since he was born. We were his last new patience he would take. We love him and dont want to go anywhere else. All the doctors at Rancho SAn Diego have been great. Really like the office.

Dr. Steele is wonderful, La Mesa office. Our beloved pediatrician, Dr. Phillip Mattson, at the Rancho San Diego office, has been our pediatrician for almost 10 years, but recently retired. I have recommended him to friends and family and many of them see Dr. Mattson due to it. Although he retired, he still works an awful lot. I can still get in to see him pretty regularly...but, once he is really gone, I will switch to Dr. Steele.

My children love Dr. John Cella. He is at the LaMesa facility. He can sometimes be dificult to get in to see but he is worth. If we go to anyone else they always miss something. He is great with the kids and understands when you have concerens. My oldest who is five thinks that he can heal anything. Once I shut the cats tail in the car door and she said, " Don't worry we will take him to Dr. Cella and he will make it all better." If anyone in the house gets sick she always says to just call Dr. Cella. On a side note alot of what you maybe going through with your little one he is seeing and hearing in his home life as he has a daughter who has three little ones around 5, 3, and 6 months. For some odd reason it turns out everytime I have been pregnet so has is daughter. So after my last little one he say," I keep telling my daughter that three is enough. So our you guys planning anymore?" I was kind of a joke because he loves he grandkids and love to see all of mine. It just makes it nice that when you go in he might ask you about something not related to your vist as his daughter might want some input from other moms as to how something is going. Good Luck with your move.
