Just Kickin' It Clothes

My wardrobe is desperately in need of some updating. I haven't bought anything new or different in forever. Now that I'm working out and feeling good about myself, I'm ready to spend a little money on some new summer clothes. I do have a few nicer shirts and stuff. But, what kind of stuff do you wear just around the house? I have a ton of t-shirts with college logos on them, but I've never really bought other types of t-shirts. When it comes to my kids I can shop all day long, but I have the hardest time finding a good place to get clothes for me! So, what's the place to get some decent, inexpensive summer clothes?

I'd prefer that they don't look like teeny bopper clothes either. :)

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

i do buy all of my nicer clothes at Kohl's, but they're just not comfy enough for every day play. I'm a SAHM, so I live in my yoga pants and sweatshirts in the winter.

I'll definitely check out Old Navy. I haven't had much luck there in the past, but I'll give it another shot. I do like their t-shirts and tanks. I love Marshall's and totally forgot about it! I'll be making a trip there as well :)

I love to go thrifting... but that's just me. I wear cute jeans and fitted vnecks or belted tunic type tops mostly, but am breaking out of the habit and pairing them with colorful cardigans and wedge sandals and such.

Kohls, JC Pennies, Marshalls, usually have pretty good stuff for decent prices.

Lately, I've been reading fashion remix blogs to help me get reenergized in the dressing world.. here are a few of my favorites:

I say trash your old bulky logo t-shirts and baggy sweat pants unless you are painting.

Any of the stores mentioned will carry simple fitted or shaped t-shirts and tanks. Layers can be good. Start simple. Accessorize and supplement with some trendier items. Get some jeans that are comfortable but look great. Buy some new shoes and look for simple dresses that compliment your figure by playing up your assets. I think the most important thing is to get clothes that fit well and flatter your form. There are tons of resources to find what looks best for your body type on line, in magazines or take along a friend with some style and the guts to tell you the truth.

Have fun and enjoy your reward! You deserve this!

I'm a tried and true Gap lover. Old Navy is good too, Target has some decent stuff, but my latest surprise is actually JC Penny. I recently went there looking for a swimsuit and they have some cute things! The clothes are reasonably priced and not too "young" looking. I honestly had written Penny's off as a yucky place, but upon further inspection it's not too bad! ;)

If you can, check out H&M or Target. H&M has some awesome stuff for pretty cheap. You can ALWAYS find stuff there, and they have all different sizes, not just 5 and 7! You really have to look around because they can have some funky stuff too, but keep looking! Target has some cute stuff too real cheap.

On sunny weekends and in the summer playing with my son I LIVE in leggings and tunics or "maxi" dresses. They are inexpensive so when my son gets me with a painted hand or I have to carry him after a spill in the mud, I don't worry about it, but a cute pair of shoes and jewelery and I'm "hip and cool" enough to meet a friend for drinks.

I like to find most of my stuff at Target (heck... milk, detergent and clothes in one spot can't be beat) or Old Navy.

I am a huge fan of discount shopping - TJ Maxx and Marshalls are the best - you can find all kinds of great stylish designer clothes at deep discounts. Kohls is good too, Ann Taylor loft more expensive but nice. When I want to splurge - for a reunion or something - White House Black Market has GORGEOUS but expensive clothes.

I'm no fashion expert, but Old Navy usually has cheap stuff, and Forever 21 is amazing -- just stick to the more mature-looking clothing. It's definitely time to wear something more stylish than college logo t-shirts.

I love targets selection of clothes. I think that alot of the teenie bopper stuff is very still mom worthy for wearing. and if you wanted the more mature look their selection of the next set up from the teen department. I love getting lost in their clothes racks when i dont have to chase childrens around.

I also like american eagle. If you want more high fashion, hit up Nordstrom's rack!! never ever pay full price for designer anything is my policy.

Express is nice for like ''Date Night'' style clothes and fairly inexpensive.

hope this helps..second hand is never bad to. if you have a consignment shop close buy that takes womens clothes.

My new place for getting clothes is Lands End Canvas. You get it on line but can return to Sears that carries Land Ends. You can usually do free shipping to receive the clothes. They are also always doing great deals if you sign up for their emails.

Other place Old Navy, Gap, Target.

Good Luck!

I do a lot of shopping on jcpenney.com. I just got two shirts that i like a lot - one is a foil printed t-shirt, and the other is a 2-in-1 t-shirt (they call it a 2fer?). Their clothes are pretty good quality for the price and there's always promotional sales. My husband wears tall sizes that are difficult to find other places so when I order stuff for him, i usually throw in stuff for me and the kids too.

I don't know your style or age, but I can usually find nice, CHEAP clothing in Macys, but I have to wait for sales and they're usually pretty good.
I got their credit card, but I really only used it when I got it for the additional discount, because after that, you get their WOW pass with the discount (over their sale prices) without having to use the credit card.
The other place is T.J Max and Marshalls; I don't really fit in their clothing because I'm about a size 16, but if you're up to about a size 12, they have nice stuff, but you need to look in the racks.
Good luck!

i love tunics and leggings, or layered tanks and long skirts with a a cute cardi if I need to look more together to go out. DH appreciates me being out of my jammie pants and t-shirts and I can still be comfy while taking care of the kiddos.

I love ann taylor/loft/factory stores. They have a 'curvy' fit pant that fits me great since my waist is a size smaller than my hips - it saves on having them tailored! I get a lot of my tops there too or NY & co.

On weekends I find myself wearing a lot of walking shorts and a fitted t-shirt or a tank/cardican combination.

Enjoy the splurge!
