Just go in there and pick up the stick, use the stick to shoot the white ball at the other balls, try to get the balls in the pockets, and walla... Learn the "rules" later.
I always thought it was the sexiest thing ever to see a women shooting pool! I always wanted to learn when I was younger but now that we have a pool table it is just sitting there collecting dust :(.
I am trying to motivate myself into learning how to play so my question is who taught you how to play?

If you start practicing. Start with 9 ball, Its definitely a woman's game.I just learned with friends as I grew up.
Stick hits ball ball hits other balls. Then you a bit out physics. Probably wouldn't hurt if you are good at sequencing cause and effect.
In other words it is all practice.
Honestly "his ball"is the best typo this phone has produced.
I learned from my father who took tons of lessons (personal instructor and videos) and plays avidly as an amateur. I will say he doesn't play very many games on his home table. Instead he practices a ton. It must be sexy to watch women play because he's also an avid fan of watching professional matches, especially the ladies. :)
LOVE pool :) we had a table growing up and my step-dad taught us all how to play. We used to have our own little tournaments!
Now I enjoy going out occasionally and beating my husband :)
Nowadays, I'd probably Youtube How to play Pool...;)
I LOVE pool! I'm not very good, but I still really enjoy it.
We had a table in the basement when I was a kid, it was our 'video game'. I guess my mom must've known how to play and that's how we all learned.
:)
My Mother taught me.
She is quite the pool shark!
My father, who was VERY good always praised the fact that my Mother could sweep the table with him!
~My Mother is a recovering addict and doesn't play anymore, she is not down for entering a bar so it has been my dream to buy her her own table one day...if only I had the resources!
Growing up all pizza parlors had pool tables in them, and my dad liked to play every once in a while when the whole family would go. I think it was his escape from the arcade games and loud noises. I used to watch him and he showed me some basics.
I wasn't really good though until I met my ex-husband, he taught me about angles and strategy.
If I had room for it, I would love a table!
Have fun. =)
My big brothers and my ex-husband. He used to always say that woman have an advantage in pool because it takes finesse and precision, more of a light touch and strategy. Guys just like to hit the balls hard enough to break them! I'm not any good, but I still play when I go with them if they need a player. I'd rather sit on the stool and drink cold beer!
My grandparents owned hotels when I was little and they had pool tables so I learned from my grandpa. Then when I got older, we would play at bars/restaraunts that had tables...so fun!
The locals at the bar. I had never seen a pool table before going in the first bar. I had a very protected childhood...lol.
I just watched them play and figured out the balls that are similar go into whatever hole you can get them in to then the black one goes last.
Then it was time to grab a stick and learn by trial and error how to make said balls go anywhere at all.
I play pretty good now. I have short arms and can't always do a shot the way I want but used to break even on the tables with friends.
I used to be a MAJOR pool shark! My husband would get embarrased because I would always beat him. ;) His friends used to poke fun at him and ask if he met me at an 8 ball tournament. Fast forward 10 years.....now when we go to a bar that has a table (which isn't often) I'm not so great. I guess it isn't like riding a bike. I still love to play but, don't get the chance too often these days.
Learned how to play pool at summer camp. Love the game. Had a job for about 3 years near a pool hall in the business district. I would play a game and have lunch. It was so relaxing.
Take your stick and go down there and just play. I'm certain there may be some instructional things on playing pool in You-Tube. Have fun learning.
I worked in bars as a teenager and enjoyed the quarter tables after my shift was over. When we bought our first house the big 8 Brunswick my husband "had to have" took up our living room like we were our own bar. I played often. We even put out box tv in the corner like you'd see at a pub. When we moved where I am now it's in a back room and my daughter plays it more than me. I used to be quite good I'm ok now but I spend more time cleaning the thing than I do playing on it.
The old men at my dad's bar taught me initially, then it was just trial and error. I learned to play when I was 8yo lol! The best way to learn is to just practice by yourself hitting the ball in different ways and seeing where they go. Having someone giving you tips on how to do things like "walk the dog" or where to hit the ball and the proper follow through is also very helpful.
My Late uncle tought me how to play. Now days we have internet, check on youtube or google.
Hope this will help.
