Help clean house (what a wonderful skill that would be for his future wife!!), pull weeds, help move rocks/dirt/whatever in a self-landscape project, paint a fence, clean out a garage - 14 year old boys aren't grossed out by the things we moms can be grossed out by.
We "hired" my husband's nephew to tear out the nasty carpet in our house before we moved in. He seemed to enjoy having such a big responsiblity and didn't mind getting a little dirty while earning money. I appreciated not having to do it, and that someone else was able to expend the energy on such a big project.
Marion,
How about being a mother's helper? Some of my friends have used relatives or neighbors to watch/play with their kids while they were getting things done around the house or even running errands. I know that once summer arrives there are going to be moms who lose their time to themselves that they once had when the kids were in school. I'm even thinking of how nice it would be to have someone (else) take my son outside and play some baseball with him so that I could get some work done!
