T.K.
I would go to a Summer Clearance sale and get a dress and sandals. On clearance, I could probably even squeeze out the necklace and earrings to go with it.
Yesterday I found a big bill that my husband has (without telling me) let go, and let go and let go. Now we are on austerity measures trying to make up the money for the big bill. But, this morning I unepectedly received a gift voucher for $40 in the mail. Hooray! Fun money! I can use it at a few places including supermarkets, liquor stores, a department store, or a tech store.
What to buy! Something nice for me? Some new clothes for the boys? A lovely bottle of wine or two? Decisions, decisions...What would you buy with $40 free money (no bills allowed!)??
I don't even understand what you just wrote Sara! LOL. Something about craft? And Star Trek??? ;-)
Indeed I DO REALLY enjoy wine!! I very much appreciate a nice red and champagne.
So far, I'm leaning towards a new pair of costume jewellery earrings, a book, some chocolate and a bottle of wine (if I can manage that on $40) But oh, I feel so guilty!! Maybe I should just give it away...

I've got a couple of craft projects on the back burner for budgetary reasons (no one really NEEDS a Codex costume, right? Or a pretend Vortex Manipulator?) so I would probably spend it at the craft/fabric store.
ETA: hee hee. Codex is a character from a web show called The Guild and the Vortex Manipulator is from Doctor Who/Torchwood. Sometimes I forget that other people aren't as big of a nerd as me. :-)
Makeup, a new purse...or alcohol. =)
Just depends on if I want the thing(s) I buy to last more then a day, lol, but I do know I would spend it on myself....since I normally don't.
Enjoy your fun money!
Depends on needs...if my kids need some clothes, I'd probably do that first. If they are fine, I'd probably buy myself some clothes (since I need some!). Or I'd buy something fun for the whole family like new movies or games.
If you need no clothes or something for you...then whatever you want. I'm not into wine, so I wouldn't use it on that:-)
(though, truth be told, even though I'm not allowed to say this...hehe...I would use it on the bill if I could!)
I would spend it on myself, because I always spend on everyone else. I would get makeup or beauty items or Pedicure. I'm sure you deserve it, so you have my permission to use it for yourself ;)
I'd buy whatever I needed for me! Maybe Clinique make up/cleansers/ moisturizers I was running low on.
Maybe something fun for hubby and me! A great hair conditioning treatment at a salon, something to wear, new towels, linens, something for kitchen, etc. Endless ideas in my mind!
I would buy books.
If your kids don't need clothes, then can you use the voucher in more than one place?
If so, how about a few t-shirts for the kids and a cheap bottle of wine for you?
If you have to use it all in one place, I say buy T-shirts at the department store for everyone in your household on the clearance rack!
Have fun and enjoy!
New clothes for me, of course that would cover only a pair of jeans or a shirt or two but still they would be new :)
I would probably buy a moby wrap for my soon to be born baby. I really want one but they are expensive and I don't have any extra money for it right now.
CLOTHES!!!!!!!! I need clothes soooo freaking bad! All of them have holes, stains, or they don't fit right :(
Craft supplies, makeup or clothes. Although, I could use a pedicure too! 1/2 hour massage??? Yum!
A new CD to rock out to, some Bubble Bath and a Bottle of Wine :D The rest my husband could have LOL
I'd by each of us a book or two. Unless, one of us had a need. If one of us needed shoes, clothes, etc...it would get relegated for practical uses. I'd never use it for alcohol, I just don't understand that. I guess if you REALLY enjoy wine and are some kind of connoisseur, that would make a bit of sense...
