JFF, What Magazine Subscriptions Do You Have...

Sunset, Real Simple. I had others but I'm not renewing them as they run out. Not renewing Sunset and Simple either. I'm shopping for a way to read them on electronics (Nook/Kindle) so that I don't have these stacks of magazines through out my house. I have a hard time getting rid of them. Even recycling feels like a waste.

Eventhough I have a Kindle Fire and can download magazines, I really prefer to have the actual magazine in hand to read.

Readers Digest is all.

I'd rather look through catalogs.

Whole Living. I get a mag. subscription every year to support our local highschool choir, otherwise I read, People, Real Simple, Southern Living, Midwest Living and Martha Stewart Living by way of the public library, which I support financially with overdue fines. :)

None -- I read articles online. Save the trees.

I was just thinking how we get NO magazines anymore.
I always have liked Real Simple...if its still out there.
Now that the kiddo is older, I might have time for magazines again!
ETA: Oh! My husband gets American Legion and some Harley thing....

Can you tell my husband is a scientist and my daughter's heading that way?!
We also look at the Washington Post (our local paper) and the British newspapers online pretty much daily because my husband is English.

If anyone has kids who love to learn, Discover Kids is great. School libraries have it too. Pockets is excellent bite-sized moral and Christian material for elementary age kids.

Good Housekeeping

I don't know why I get it, but I enjoy it. It just started showing up in the mail, but no one has owned up to sending it to me. I've been getting it for a couple of years, but I've never ordered it, and I still don't know where it's coming from. I enjoy reading it every month, though. :)

I also get The English Journal which I love because I'm an English teacher nerd.

National Review.

We did a one year stint with Consumer Reports, but am not resubscribing. We aren't really planning any purchases that it would provide big insight into (no cars, no refrigerators/washers/dryers/dishwashers/microwaves) and no big home improvements either. It was interesting. But won't renew.

Pretty much every medical journal possible - it is insane how many dozens of publications we receive each month, even after calling the publishers to ask to be removed from most of the lists. The ones that he reads are specific to Internal Medicine, which I read too for the patient perspective stories, and especially one called "Medical Economics," which has proved to be invaluable in understanding many of the problems with the financial side of modern US medicine.

All of the magazine subscriptions, except for Consumer Reports, were either free or $5/year. I also like Woman's Day and Family Circle, but I haven't seen any free subscription offers for those lately. And I love my Costco Connection magazine.

I really like Reader's Digest, but I've been going to medical appointments so much lately, who needs a subscription?

The only thing I'm getting right now is MAD magazine. I'm not sure how I ended up with the subscription. It was probably part of some free offer for something else I signed up for. I won't renew it when it's up. Some of the humor can be pretty dorky and downright disgusting, but hey....I think that's what their goal is. I must admit there have been some things that I found myself laughing out loud about. For instance, "New Shows on the All-Pirate Network": Project Gangplank, The Parrot Whisperer, CSI-Patch, Arrrrrrrr You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?

They did a spoof on funky catalog items and coupons that was pretty hilarious. I might include some of those in Holiday cards for my friends and family that have senses of humor.

I can't say I haven't enjoyed it, but I'd rather spend my money on something else.

We have really condensed are magazine consumption, we are down to one magazine for each of us:

*Cuisine at home (mine)
Game Informer (kids)

*The subscriptions are Christmas gifts from the in-laws.

Good question. I support the annual Girl Scout magazine sale fundraiser and it's time to order again.

Each year we get Sports Illustrated (for hubby) and Reader's Digest. Last year I purchased Good Housekeeping, and I might renew.

I also enjoy Family Fun, but we've out grown it. I still enjoy reading a few of the articles while I'm waiting in the doctor's or dentist office.
