JFF... What Kinds of Pets Do You Have?

We have a dog and 2 fish [eye roll @ the fish]... I'd love another dog but our house is too small.... one day... in the meantime I'm thinking of getting a snake or a turtle. Our dog is a brindle German Plott Hound... he's a rescue and the best. dog. ever.

My fiance wants a cat but personally, cat's hate me, and the feeling is more often than not mutual.

My goddaughter wants a guinea pig... they have 2 beagles and dad said no guinea pig ;)

My brother has a chinchilla... SUPER cute, but I'd never want one.

I'd love to own a horse. Yes, I know how much work they are ;)

I used to own hamsters... I loved them, but I don't know if I'd want one now!!

My in laws have 3 crazy, but awesome, dogs, and a bunny.

Just wondering... what kinds of pets do you have, and how many??

What can I do next?

I'm not allowed pets where I live, but there is this "neighborhood" cat that goes around and visits the people who will let him in. So I guess I "share" this cat with my neighbors. His name is Obie and he thinks he's Jedi :) If I could have pets here I would have cats, it too small for dogs. And as soon as my daughter graduates from high school (only 3 years left...Yay) and I'm out of my awful appt and this filthy city and I'm moving to a house in the country, and I WILL get those cats, and probably a couple of dogs too. And a duck. And maybe some chickens. I miss having pets.

We have 1 cat, 1 dog, and 10 cows. They are all outside pets. The cows aren't really "pets." We raise them to sell or butcher for ourselves. I would love to have a little indoor dog, but not until my youngest would stay away from the food, ect...

My daughter has a hamster. We've had him for well over a year - in a couple of months, I think he'd be considered "old-age". But we love him.

I have a betta fish called Alpha (get it? Alpha Betta). He swims to the top of his tank every time I walk into the room and he practically eats his pellets out of my hand. He's the most dog-like fish I've ever owned (and I've owned tons of fish). I am very attached to him.

We have two hermit crabs. I didn't want them. Daddy bought them for the kids and said he was told "they don't last very long, two weeks, TOPS". That was 8 months ago and they're still going strong - changed shells and everything. Hate those things. Luckily, I don't have to deal with them at all, they're easy enough for the kids to take care of themselves. Their scritch-scratching creeps me out, though.

Wish we could get a dog or a cat, but we have rampant allergies in our house, so that'll never happen...

We currently have a big, fat black cat. She looks like a badger running down the stairs. We are trying to lighten her up a bit. She thinks she rules the roost. My husband had told the kids we can get a dog. We do NOT have room for a dog! We barely have room for us. And one of my girls (12 yrs) wants a bunny. And my husband thinks it would be great to have a 50+ gallon fish tank. I hope our next house is huge because we will need it .

My brother has a 12 yr old blond retriever, 2 or 3 different type of geckos (at least 6 total), I think 2 boa (little ones), used to have a bearded dragon and something else too. He might even have more that I have not seen in some time. He keeps mice and crickets for food supply.

We have a skye terrier mix dog who really is a loveable little punk (always up to some kind of mischief). My children also have two leopard geckos.

Ideally, I would love to have a harlequin great dane someday but they usually only have an 8 year lifespan so I'm afraid that I'd get too attached to it and end up having my heart broken. This is the first time in my life where I didn't have a cat (we have enough animals as it is) so I am really missing having some feline energy around.

My kids are into exotic animals so I'm sure that if you were to ask them what they want, they'd tell you that they would like a chinchilla (my daughter) and a red-eyed tree frog (my son). But their preference for pets changes daily, I have found.

We have a fourteen-month-old dog that we're raising for Canine Companions for Independence. She's nearly all Lab, with a little Golden Retriever added. This is the ninth dog we've raised for CCI.

We also have two cats. Usually we seem to have three or four, but we're in short supply at the moment.

We had gerbils when we were first married, and our cats at the time used to sit on top of their cage and watch them play. Later on, one of our sons had fish. One daughter had hamsters (very lovable but not long-lived, and that was too hard on her). There was another hamster that was basically mine - the same daughter rescued him from a college dorm. Another daughter had a parakeet.

Now I have two granddogs and five grandcats. I'll take anything I can get.

Too Many!!!
All rescue animals. 3dogs.. My darling daughter has a soft spot for animals and she has puppy dog eyes to convince daddy :)
11 year old lab/great dane mix- She is by far the best dog I have ever seen or had. (All 125 pounds of her) She is my baby- had her before my kids.
4 year old Rat Terrier- Thanks Santa Claus
2 year old mutt/mix- I think she was the "lemon" in the litter. LOL (So much has been wrong with this dog!!!)

And a cat.
I felt the same way you do about cats... But my daughter was kind enough to find a kitty at the park and she came home with us. I really like this cat and did not think I would. Fast forward a couple of months to today and the cat is currently laying in the closet with her 4 KITTENS!!!!!!

No more pets for me for a long long time!

We have a few acres, and our animals are rescue animals. Currently we have a pig, ducks, a German shepherd, and a wolf/spitz mix. In the past we have had goats, chickens, cats, and rabbits. I have enjoyed all of them except the goats.

There are horses, donkeys, and cows next door. That's perfect because we can enjoy them without the expense! :)

Currently 3 dogs(Basset Hound, English Mastiff, and Great Dane). We have 4 cats three of which are rescues to some degree or another while the 4th is an Oriental Shorthair. Last night we added a baby red ear slider(turtle) that my oldest son and I stopped in the middle of the road to rescue.
We have had a laundry list of pets ranging from rats, mice, gerbils, and frogs.
We have had fish as well and are planning to set up my large tank again because we miss having fish.

All our pets are rescues

A chartreuse cat with a big personality that fetches and loves to drink from the sink

An orange tabby that resembles and eats like Garfield and has a serious attitude problem, but also believes he is my baby and loves to be cuddled

An Aussie Shepard/Border Collie Mix female who behaves more like a cat, loves to lay around the house all day and is painfully shy and timid until someone rings the doorbell.

I want pygmy goats really badly! I think they are adorable and great lawn mowers!

Currently, we have two rescue mutts- strange combos-one is a lab/dachsund mix and the other is a german shepard/terrier mix.

We have two horses and a pony- but we've had several different horses in and out over the years. There's a huge trading ring within horse owners, that I had no idea about! At least, here, it is.

We have a 20gal fish tank with 5 fish (and I think one is pregnant....great.)

We had two geckos that I loved having. The first one broke my heart when he got lost and came back about a month later! But, he was sick and we tried so hard to get him healthy, but he didn't make it. I cried so hard- I was a mess. We also lost one of our horses almost a year and a half ago. Talk about tragic. I was a mess with the gecko, so you can imagine what I was like with our horse. Still can't think about him without tearing up:(

My son is wanting another lizard or a gerbil. We are still evaluating both choices. :)

Love this fun question! Our family has a dog and three cats. Ironically I too am a "cat hater" go figure. My husband is a cat lover though and he has swayed me to his side since they are SO easy to take care of. Our dog came from a rescue, one cat from my dad, second from our neighbor's feral cat litter, and the third adopted us by showing up on our doorstep (not kidding this cat literally followed my car down our driveway). I really want goats one day-have always loved their spunk. We've had guinea pigs in the past and they are the best pets ever especially for small living arrangements. I've always loved animals and wanted many of them and now that we have kids I'm sure we'll get plenty of strays ;)

Right now we have 4 cats. Since getting married my husband and I started with 1 cat, added fish, added a second cat. Went through all sorts of fish LOL Then we rescued 3 cats (mama and her 2 kittens) for a total of 5. Lost our first one to old age, so went to 4. Then adopted another cat and lost our second to old age bringing us to our current 4. We don't have any fish at the moment but we're oogling fish again and I have a feeling the large tank will get pulled out of the garage and set back up again. I miss watching my fish swim.

My son desperately wants an aquarium so we'll get him a cheapo one with a couple of fish after we move when he turns 5.

And one day I'd like to get a dog - even though I'm more of a cat person. And my cats will hate me for getting a dog, but my son wants one and so does my husband.
