My kids and I mostly drink water with every meal. Very occasionally my son will drink milk. Also, when we go out to eat, the kids will have soda as a treat.
What do they drink with dinner? And what do you and your husband drink? Mine drink milk or kool aid, unless we are having pizza, then it's soda or iced tea. Hubs and I drink water, soda, or iced tea. Just curious. Thanks!
My kids and I mostly drink water with every meal. Very occasionally my son will drink milk. Also, when we go out to eat, the kids will have soda as a treat.
Water 90% of the time. Occasionally milk or diluted juice. And they are 11 and 12 yrs old. It's just what they are used to. We don't keep soda in the house or usually juice. If we are out to eat, then about 75% of the time it's water. If not water the occasional soda or lemonade. My kids understand that water is healthy and refreshing and are just used to it as their primary drink.
ETA: I don't think my kids have EVER tasted Kool Aid.
Mostly water. Rarely milk with dinner. Very, very rarely Kool Aid or soda.
I also make homemade decaf iced tea sweetened with stevia--so that's an option for all of us as well.
Ice & water on the fridge door? Best option ever!

Water for kids.
Hubby is iced tea, pelligrino or soda and occasionally just water.
Me water and/or wine.
ADDED: My kids have never had koolaid either, or soda, other than a sip. Didn't even try it until 5-6 and now they just don't like it. The little one's "fancy" drink is lemonade or pelligrino. We beleive the longer you hold out in giving them the sugary drinks the less they like it later on. Seems to have worked in our home. I'd almost rather they had a taste for wine then the junk that passes for food/drink on our super market shelves.
My kids drink water, sometimes milk. I drink water or tea. I'm sure it sounds preachy, but Kool Aid, soda and juice are just empty sugar calories so we don't have them in the house.
Everyone drinks just water. Occasionally hubby and I will have wine.
Water and wine (or beer). Kids always have water unless we go out to eat, then they have apple juice or lemonade as part of the treat. (well, 1/2 water, 1/2 juice...we party, for sure)
Milk or water. I might carbonate the water, but we drink it plain or with a twist of lemon. We don't drink sugary drinks.
Breakfast: milk, water or juice (if I buy it, I rarely do and only if it's 100% juice)
Lunch: same as above or soda (soda only at lunch on occasion and mostly only when we get fast food and it comes with the combo meal which is maybe every 2 weeks or so.)
Dinner: Milk or water
Hubs and I drink mostly coffee in the morning and the rest of the time water (regular or flavored) or tea, we are trying to kick the soda habit, may have it on occasion but trying not to.
Water with dinner. Water with lunch. For all of us. The kids never drink soda and occasionally get juice. Sometimes when we go out to eat, I'll have a soda or iced tea. My husband drinks diet soda.
FYI, when I married my husband, he claimed that he hated drinking water, because it "went right through him". His mother and sister still say the same thing. They always have to have some kind of soda, juice, or crystal light as a beverage. My husband switched to water a few years ago in order to lose weight. His mom and sister are still overweight. My husband is not. Unhealthy diet choices are something that I don't want to pass onto my children.
Water. We all do. Most of the year here is pretty hot, so we crave it by the end of the day. His dinner time is 1 - 1/2 hours before dinner. I couldn't imagine loading him with sugar. That would make bedtime so difficult!! (Not that I care what you do. Just thinking out loud.) My kiddo is only 4, so he's never had soda or drinks with caffeine, like tea. He does like herbal tea, though.
Mine drink milk. Eww, Kool aid is gross lol.
My whole family drinks milk with dinner. I end up spending way too much on milk, as we all drink a lot of it, but we are all of healthy weights and we all seem to have good strong bones. Worth the money, in my opinion.
Water, fruit punch, pink lemonade, unsweetened iced teaor fruit punch mio.
One of my kids and husband usually drink milk. The other kid will drink milk or nothing at all. I usually have water, but occasionally coffee or wine depending on the meal.
As a child, Girlie drank whole milk, undiluted fruit juice, water, or occasionally soda.
I drink unsweetened iced tea with a splash of fruit juice, undiluted fruit juice, cafe au lait, beer,or occasionally soda. I don't drink water.
Milk for my son and husband
Water (with just a touch of lemon or lime juice in it) for me.
Husband: Diet Soda, Ice Water or Wine
Me: Iced Tea or Pelligrino
10y/o Son:Pelligrino or Sobe Flavored Water Strawberry/Dragon fruit is his fave!
8y/o Son:Regular tap water from sink w/tons of ice!! ALWAYS!! He's my *real* water drinker, it's his 1st choice!!
5y/o Dayghter: Milk or Sobe Flavored Water or Orange Flavored Pelligrino.
When we get Pizza we usually buy a 2 litter of root beer or sprite for kiddos, I get a Dr. Pepper or Pepsi & Husband gets a beer!
~I buy a lot of water. Pelligrino, the Sobe flavored waters, the cans of Orange Flavored Pelligrino. I just personally like all that kind of water & my kids (all but my middle child, the real water drinker), think its great & I don't mind them drinking it b/c it's better than juice.
We used to drink a lot of soda before the kids, but now that weve got them we've switched mostly to water. When we splurge (besides pizza nights) now it's usually on Izzy's, I LOVE those things & the kids think of them as soda, Ha!!!
Mostly water. We drink mostly water all day as well.
If we're eating out they'll get a lemonade or maybe rarely a soda as a treat but can't get endless refills and go water after the first glass, maybe the second depending on the occasion.
We sometimes have juice at breakfast, lunch at the latest but never for dinner.
It is rare that they drink milk at all any time of the day. None of us are milk drinkers.
Occasionally we'll drink something like Gatorade if the weather is nasty hot like it is.
Well I don't mind milk, or water as long as they eat. I find some if they drink their milk then they are full and can't eat dinner. So we've cut down on milk during dinner but of course they can have water. They use to drink apple juice but so much sugar that we don't have it but a lunch time. So mostly water at dinner, milk at breakfast, lunch if they are home and choc milk ,juice at school along with water
Water and/or milk.
Hubby drinks gin and tonic, beer, or wine. I drink water, milk, beer or wine.
My kids can have milk or water with dinner. My husband and I have water. Sometimes we also have a glass of wine or a beer.
Water or organic soy milk.
My husband and I drink water or red wine.
We never do anything with artificial colors or flavors. Ever.
I used to have tea or soda, but I've been having trouble sleeping lately so I've cut them out and started drinking juice. My daughter drinks either water, juice, or milk. My husband drinks only water, because he has really bad acid reflux and can't drink much else.
For lunch I have soda or tea, the kid gets koolaid in her lunch box and the hubs drinks water.
My children drink milk or water and on occasion chocolate milk. Tonight for instance my youngest after having 6 cups of water throughout the day and 3 cups of plain milk got chocolate milk with dinner. My husband and I have soda, water or iced tea.
Chocolate milk. If we eat out then get the kids meals and the small pop. They don't get pop very often.
Water, Milk, Carbonated Water, Tea
Daddy may have a beer or a glass of wine for one of us.
Typically it's water.
Glass of milk for the kids and myself.
Husband drinks Crystal Light, Sprite, or water. He has an issue with milk.
As a rule we drink water with dinner during the week. On the weekends the boys can have a soft drink and my husband and I will have wine or beer. We don't do milk at dinner, they have it with breakfast and lunch.
My 18.5 yr old still drinks milk at most meals. If she's out with friends, etc, she'll drink lemonade or water.
She and I don't drink sodas, but hubby loves Coke. I don't drink milk, I've never liked it.
For dinner, usually a glass of wine and water.
water, soy milk, or almond milk
I only drink water unless its occasion for some wine.
on weekends we may share an Izzy (carbonated fruit juice)
Me=I only ever drink tea, coffee, or water.
Hubby=He'll drink anything I buy (and I stopped buy soft drinks). Usually tea.
Kids=Milk or tea. They don't like "fizzy" drinks.
water or milk - for everyone.
lol, this goes with my last question about lunches. hubs has some way weird ideas about meals. He insists the kids have milk w dinner at home. but lets them get pop now (8 and 10yo) at restaurants, ( unfortunately we've been eating out a lot this summer and his reasoning is we are on vacation--ok but not 2 meals a week all summer long).
ANYhow, my dd isn't a big milk drinker, she isn't a big drinker at all which worries me, but milk and icecream often upsets her stomach, I haven't investigated it, I just give her water when she askes for it. He thinks i'm harming her by depriving her of calcium, she eats cheese and cottage cheese and yogurt so i'm not worried.
this child also prefers her sandwich w just PB which irritates him to no end, and she prefers a "cheese roll Up" to a salami sandwhich.
If I werent' such a people pleaser I wouldn't care but good golly I wish he would lighten up about this.
Milk, water or juice.
For the rest of us, it's milk, water, coffee, wine, tea or juice (everyone else is 18+ and wine is only for those of legal age).
We are big on water and milk here.
Kids and husband usually choose water. I usually have koolaid made with splenda. Sometimes our youngest wants organic soy milk instead of water, and they are both free to choose the koolaid, but almost always want water instead. Oh, Crystal Lite lemonade is a favorite with the kids, too.
Hubby and the kids drink milk.
I drink water
sometimes they drink water.
when we go out to eat my daughter will have a soda, my son a lemonade
a fun question
kids=milk or water (soda usually when we eat out)
us=water or tea (soda usually when we eat out)
DS drinks milk or water. DS and I drink water, wine or beer. Mostly water :(
Kids: milk (one skim milk, one rice milk)
Me: water
Husband: diet soda
At restaurants, the same except for the one whose cow's milk intolerant. Restaurants don't have rice milk, so he gets lemonade.
The kids drink water or milk. I drink water (usually) and dad drinks Diet Pepsi or water.
milk or water. I will sometimes have juice. My kids would rather have water over anything though.
My kids drink milk every night with dinner. A couple times a week they drink their milk with milk straws - which have these flavor beads in them so when you suck milk up the straw it changes the flavor to chocolate or strawberry or cookies and cream. They are good! :)
My husband and I mostly drink water with dinner. If its my husbands weekend we have a couple beers with dinner.
Kids almost always drink water with dinner. Sometimes they can have a little soda if it's the weekend or if we occasionally get some when we pick up pizza. Some nights hubby will have beer, especially if he is grilling. If he does, then sometimes I'll have a beer, Redds, or a Mike's hard lemonade. Otherwise we both drink water as well.
ETA: Yep - Kool aid is "empty sugar calories" that's why I cook HEALTHY meals.
My boys drink milk, chocolate milk, water or Kool-Aid.
I drink either water or iced tea.
My husband (their dad) drinks water or wine.
My oldest drinks water with her meals. My two younger ones drink milk. My DH and I drink either water or like someone else said, if we are having pizza or take out (very rare) WE drink pop. Never the kids. My oldest will drink pop as well.
My husband and kids usually drink milk or water with dinner and I drink water. When we go out for dinner the kids and I drink soda and my husband orders beer or wine.
I like the kids to have 2 servings of milk/day, and 1 serving of juice is allowed/day. In between meals, they drink water all day. If they've had their milk, I don't mind them having lemonade, iced tea, ginger ale or whatever for dinner. For some nicer meals where my husband may like wine (or if we're having guests and serving wine), then the kids and I will open sparkling grape juice for us. :)
My boys usually drink milk (1 glass) and then if they are still thirsty they have water.
My husband and I both have water (sometimes wine :)
When we go out to eat or have company they get soda or lemonade.
When they were small, milk. Or water. Now that they are older water is the first choice, although our teen son (15) often opts to have an iced tea or soda with his meal. He has been limited to one soda a day for some years now, so he often chooses to have that during dinner. Honestly though, most of the time, he pours it, and drinks only about half of the glass. Daughter always has water.
Husband and I usually have water also. Sometimes he'll finish a beer he had already opened with a glass of water along with it. If we have company, we sometimes make a pitcher of iced tea, or offer sodas or beer/wine. My parents don't like our water, so they usually have a soda of some sort when they are here.
I usually only drink soda when I have a cold. The carbonation seems to help with my sinuses or something.
Oh... and breakfast is coffee for sure. The kiddos will have milk, or a chocolate instant breakfast mixed in milk. Son will sometimes have milk and water. Or Juice and water. Sometimes orange, but he likes cran-grape, too.
We all just pretty much drink water. We're too lazy to get anything else. If we got takeout we might share a soda, if one of us picked one up with the takeout.
My kids do sometimes have some milk right before bed. And usually juice at breakfast.
