My daughter will not eat a sandwich or piece of bread with the crust still on it. I was fixing myself a sandwich for lunch today and without thinking, automatically removed the crust. What other things have you guys found yourself doing that you wouldn't normally do because of having kids?

What can I do next?

I can't stand in one spot without automatically doing the mommy sway, gently rocking from side to side like I'm soothing a baby on my hip or in my arms. My youngest is 5 and I still do this. My colleagues give me a signal if I start doing while presenting something.

I think one of the biggest for me is when the kid has been in bed for a half hour and I realize that I'm sitting there w/Blues Clues on. :-)

Another thing to do w/having a younger child... I was with my friend's 10 year old and I got him a Juice Box and w/out even thinking I opened the straw and put it in. Uhh.. he probably could've handled that. He looked at me strange. :-)

I also get in teacher mode and I will refer to everyone as "friends" b/c that's what we do at school.

My daughter loves white cake but calls it vanilla cake. I find myself calling it vanilla cake now. At work we had a retirement party for a co-worker and there was a cake half white half chocolate. I told the lady cutting it that I wanted vanilla cake and everyone laughed.

She also calls Chuck E Cheese Chunky Cheese and I have called it that on more than one ocassion.

Making every person's dinner plate in my house. No more passing it around the table. You get what I give you. Even my husband. I started doing it with my little ones so that they would get an appropriate portion of everything on their plates. They may not eat it but I will know I have served it to them. Before I knew it, I was doing it for everyone, the 20 y.o., the 17 y.o., the husband.

On a long car ride with my husband once, I told him we needed to take a break soon because 'I had to go POTTY'...

I'm also that crazy lady at the gas station who makes ridiculous faces through the back windows to my kids. The windows are kind of tinted to unless your face is smashed against the glass, you can't tell there are kids in there, so I pretty much look like I'm making faces at my own reflection ;)

I don't like the crust either and I'm a grown up!

Oh and whenever crossing the street with someone, even an adult, I will cue them when they can walk after looking both ways... and then grab their hand to cross.
Ugh.

I've been known to hum the theme song to Blue's Clues all day long. Very professional.

My favorite though was actually as an interviewer... a really talented teacher was interviewing for a position with me and about halfway through she asked if she could excuse herself. Of course. Then she asked me where the potty was. We both burst out laughing- she got the job and is still one of my best!

Hmmm, listening and singing along with the Wiggles after I've dropped everyone off, watching SpongeBob and Phineus and Ferb if I can't sleep at night (though I really do like those shows), when rounding the corners at work I cover the sharp cabinet corners because my enormous preggo belly used to get bruised on them all the time, the mommy sway, calling the bathroom the potty (yes I've done this at work!), crying with certain commercials and movies (really didn't need to cry during Rapunzel when the queen realizes she's her lost daughter), I'm sure there's more...

About the worst I did was when I was without thinking I would always head to their school. This was when I was a stay at home mom and volunteered pretty much the whole school day. I think perhaps it was a sign I spent too much time up there. :(

Oh oh on JBs comment, want to see something funny. Any time there is a group of people around a mom rocking her baby every mom will start rocking too. Funny as heck to watch. I usually start watching just after I realize I am doing it. :p

My family and I went over to my BIL and SIL house yesterday to let our kids play and my "Mommy Mode" came out and I was everywhere all at once. Washing kids hands, cleaning up spills, getting snacks, keeping kids from climbing on the tables etc. While cleaning their house out of reflex.
It's something I do all the time so it just comes out.

I didnt realize I had cleaned their house by the time we left!
