texting. There is a cute little post on Facebook that says "Hang Up and Text Me" I should change my voicemail message to that!

I love how ironic it is that I can read historical books on my e-reader and all its digital functions, like highlighting favorite passages or looking up definitions while reading about medieval churches or wooly mammoths.

I also love how "google" has turned into a verb in our language.

my favorite is cell phones.

not because you can "do anything, anywhere", no i have a pc for that (not to say i don't get online on my phone, but i don't need a smartphone)

because in SO many instances, they are just so darn helpful. examples: finding someone in a crowded area (walmart, festival, huge parking lot, other event, etc), when you're lost, when you are so busy you forget things like, "what was i supposed to bring for memorial day again?" lol. mostly because family is my #1 everything and my phone keeps me connected with them. if i drive to the store and forget my list, i call hubby and he texts it to me. if i am on my way to work and there is a traffic accident, i can call work and let them know i will be late (support my family - remember it all goes back to that). i LOVE LOVE LOVE my cell phone. i was one of the last people i knew to get one. and i am so very happy i did. they are such a huge blessing in so many ways. just one small example. i was driving myself and my small son an hour away to an unknown area, to help family move. i had only been there once before and i didn't drive. i ended up on some small dirt road in the middle of NOwhere, NO idea where i was. i had been driving at that point an hour and a half (and still was nowhere close to his house). i called my mom (already there) in tears. not only did she get me back on track, she calmed my fears, got me thinking straight again, and that was priceless. THANK GOD FOR CELLPHONES!

i say "thank god for cell phones" at least once a week. and not being ironic!

Your post made me laugh! I remember back in the 70's being at my cousins house. There were a bunch of us cousins and we all became friends with all the kids in the neighborhood where my cousins lived. I can picture like it was yesterday, us coming up with all these plans and schemes. Once the deeds were decided, we would be all excited and bouncing off the walls. We, of course, had to get the rest of the gang in on our fun, so what do we do? Back then it was either call or run to so-and-so's house. I can see us now, being all wound up and hardly able to wait to tell our friends what we were going to do that day. Picture a gang of us RUNNING up to the phone, eager to call, on the edges of our seats, barely able to be contained in our skins...then...dialing the phone.....9...................................8...........................7.........................7................................5.................................9.....................................0...on the rotary phone, lol! It took forever to dial a number and we would just stand there practically exploding while the dang dial rolled back after each number. So funny when you see kids today being in touch with someone in about 2 seconds with texting. I love technology, and I am definitely with you on the delete button and backspace button (e.g. typing 25 page papers in college, OMG!)

Google aka The Oracle. Spell check doesn't even scratch the surface of my spelling, so when I have a word that spell check can't help me with, I just type it into google. Also, I have a lot of blank spots in my memory banks, and google can help refresh my memory or give me a rudimentary lesson on something - a good jumping off point for real research.

Which brings me to my favorite thing: Free education, free music sharing, free information sharing, free video sharing. When it's available, the internet is such a miraculous source of ideas!
