Leaning over to kiss her, just as she's jumping up - and getting knocked on the chin in such a way as to catch my teeth on her head, giving her the opportunity to tell people at her preschool that I "bit" her. Yay.
So this morning as the clock was approaching the time to leave, my son was running late and was still shoeless. Literally, he was supposed to be walking out the door at that moment. He decided that a good spot to put on his socks and shoes was the middle of the hallway between the kitchen and the bathroom. As I am walking towards the bathroom, I approach him to give him a hug since I KNOW he'll be gone by the time I am finished. So I lean in to ruffle his hair with a 'Have a good day', and proceed to step on his bare toes with my bootlike sneakers. Um. OOPS! So sorry. :/
Needless to say he was delayed a bit longer, but I don't think I broke anything. Yeah, because you know its been a whole 5 days since we've been to the doctor, but the weekend is coming...
What mishaps have you caused trying to show the love to your kids?
Thanks ladies! :) I think I have done almost all of these at one point. =)

I have serious personal spacial relations issues - meaning I am a huge klutz. So my poor son has been poked in the eye, head butted, tripped, and once or twice knocked over in my over zealous displays of emotion.
You would think that after 16 years of this he would flinch every time I moved to hug him - but, loving boy that he is, he accepts with grace my hugs and just laughs when I inadvertently squash him.
I "butt" my kids all the time.
They come up running behind me and I will turn and
WHOMP!
My butt will knock them right over.

My story was when my daughter was a little older. She had just turned 14 & was a freshman. She was asked to the homecoming dance. She was beautiful, except she bit her fingernails. I went to the store & bought fake nails. She was already to go except for her dress. We did her nails. Well kind of. Somehow we glued her fingers to the table. That is when her date & his parents pulled in the driveway. The dads went outside & his mom & I got her unstuck. We still laugh about it.
I was trying to hurry my 3 yr old through a parking lot to get his brother after school. I was holding his hand and going between parked cars. You know how they never look where they are going? I apparently dragged him right into a side mirror. We were late that day. :(
I just wanted to say I got a laugh out of this post and all the replies so thanks for that!! I have had both my kids jump up at the same time I bent down to hug/kiss them resulting in me 'biting' their heads. I pushed my daughter 'too' hard on the swing whe she was about 2, causing her to fall off (be more careful next time - she told me). I'm sure there are more!
I was holding him and carrying him into the kitchen (he was probably 3) since he wanted to be carried. Yup - his head hit the door frame. I stepped on his feet last week.
I did not create this mishap - my husband was responsible for this one.
When my daughter was younger, my husband was pushing her on a swing, just as his hands touched her back to push, she let go and screamed daddy, look no hands! Well, the timing was not so good because he pushed her right off the swing and she broke her arm.
I was tucking my daughter in to bed and she was laying down. I went to give her a hug and at the same time she moved up to far and we clunked heads.
Probably the worst one was when I elbowed my son in the eye/side of the head when I was turning around to pick him up. He was closer than I thought! Luckily he didn't bruise.
