I was on a search for a travel space saver swing. I went to several places. I did not want to spend a fortune on one since it would only be used for a few months or so. While out on my adventure, a friend called me and she mentioned a resale shop down the road from her house. I went in and found one for $20!!! It was brand new! It was selling at Wal-mart for $79! I am so excited! Have you found any great deals? Do you mind buying resale? I sure don't mind as long as it is in great condition!

What can I do next?

There is nothing better than a good deal. Last year I got my several halloween costumes at the dollar store! They were the exact same ones selling at Wal-Mart for $20. It was such a good deal, I bought several and gave them out to kids whose families couldn't really afford to buy costumes. The kids were thrilled to have something and I was thrilled knowing I made their day and I got great deal! That was an awesome day!

OH honey, I am a bargain freakin Betty ;)

I was in DSW shoe warehouse one time, buying a new, much needed pair of flip flops. I had a coupon for $10 off my shoes and another coupon for a free tote, but the cashier was out, and told me to go to the customer service desk. I was behind a girl who was trying to return a pair of shoes she had bought over a year ago for $160(!!); she had bought the wrong size, they were so 'out of season' that they weren't in the system anymore, and they could only give her $10 store credit.

She walked away totally pissed (understandably). I stepped up, took one look at the shoes, and said 'OMG WHAT SIZE ARE THOSE!?'... the guy laughed and told me they were a 6... I smiled and said 'Just so happens I'm a 6, what do you do with them since they're not in the system?'... he said 'well, we gave her a $10 store credit, so they're yours for $10'... HELL YES!! I ended up with a FREE pair of $160 shoes (thanks to my coupon), a $50 tote for FREE (thanks to the other coupon), and only spent $12 on my flip flops, which were on sale...

Good shoe day, oh yeah baby!!

I just responded to another question that I ONLY buy on sale. My best deal at my last trip to Goodwill was that someone had given 4 Partylite candle holders to them and they were 50% off. So I got probably at LEAST $80 in "name brand" candle holders for $7. Yippeee!!! And over the weekend hubby and I were wandering the mall and he got expensive dress shoes on clearance for $60 (I still think thats a LOT) and the clerk said if he found another pair on the clearance rack it would be FREE!!! So he got both pairs for $60 and they were $180 regular price. Yeah! Its things like this that make it REALLY hard to pay full price for anything, which I never do anymore. =)

I love, love, love a good sale!

I love the feeling of getting a god deal on something.
My son loves poking around thrift stores for treasures. He knows his money goes further there!

My mom told me today she picked up a top for me for $2 and change at Macy's.

I don't shop resale and typically will not shop a sale rack either because something is on a sale rack for a reason... you know.

However, when we were looking for a bed for our daughter, we were at Weir's (nice furniture store in our area) and our daughter spotted the HUGE heavy cherry wood beautiful bed. Of course she said That's it, that's the one.

Well, this bed was marked $2500 which was a NO WAY but the manager saw us looking at it and he told us they were trying to get rid of it because of its size. It didn't fit in many master bedrooms. Well for us it was perfect because daughter's room is HUGE. We got that bed for less than $450 delivered. It is beautiful and she loves it.

Now if we were to move, it probably has to stay because there are not many rooms it will fit in and leave room for other furniture and room to walk around.

That was probably my best deal.

ETA: I didn't realize I'd be labeled materialistic and hiding behind labels because I don't shop sales. GEES... get over yourself AW. I shop smart and don't waste money.

I am a secret Thrift Store junkie. I never tell my husband, and God forbid, I would never tell my snooty in-laws that I shop there - and rather frequently I might add.

Just yesterday, before the cold weather sets in, I went looking for scarves. I found 100% silk scarves, brand new, designer labels, that sell for at least $50 to a $100 a piece...I picked up at least 10 scarves for $2.99 - $4.99 a piece. Now I just need to hand wash them for the winter.

And if one blows away in the wind, or gets dropped by my daughter in the playground...I will not be bothered at all.

My best great deal was at the local high school yard sale. I found 2 brand new Waterford wine glasses for $10.00. It was such a steal that I felt guilty and asked the friendly woman why she was so happy to be selling these very expensive glasses. She laughed, telling me they were from her ex-relationship and that she just wanted to get rid of them! I drink my glass of wine each night in high style!

The best deal I ever got was when I talked my wife into buying our marriage license for $6. I never ever found a better deal than that.

On a more serious note . . . This summer, when we were on vacation, I couldn't find a motel/hotel on line for less than $70 a night. So my wife and I drove until around 9 pm. I drove to a couple and their rates and they were still too high. I saw one with a $58 sign for one person. I saw another mid level motel (I don't remember the name) that had a sign that said they welcomed walk-ins, $75 a night. I talked to the desk clerk and she gave me the party line $75. I told her there was a motel across the freeway that had a $58 sign, but I was looking for a jacuzzi. She said they only had a jacuzzi in their suite and the suite was $85 a night. I asked her how much revenue the suite was going to bring in if they didn't rent it for $85. To make a long story shorter, I talked her into giving me the suite with the jacuzzi for $60 for the night, and got a free breakfast.

(The bad part . . . they had a waffle machine that you pour in the batter and cover the lower part, and then turn the entire cooker portion over. It turns out really good waffles. Now my wife wants one and I haven't found one at a garage sale or resale store. Any one have this kind of waffle machine they want to sell?)

Good luck to you and yours.
