JFF - Batteries...BOOoooo!!!

Okay, so I hate toys with batteries that make noise. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I don't buy them myself (except for one little tiny music player that played nice, quiet classical music, and I still like it...) and I think people buy them for other people's kids thinking "Oh, this would be so much fun!" but they'd never want it in their own house.

On the contrary...I LOVE the noise that regular toys make. Two of my favorites...I love the sound that legos make when you dump them on the floor (the crashing, low sound of the huge box of quatros, and the tiny, oh what a mess sound of the regular legos...) and I like the sound of my children playing with plastic dishes/plastic food.

So, what are some of your favorite NON-electronic toy sounds? :)

(P.S....I give a total pass to video games. I myself have been a huge video game freak for the last 25 years, although I don't let it take up my time. But I could get into a whole 'nother question...what are your favorite video game songs/sounds? But I won't. Or maybe I will...)

What can I do next?

My son has his toys organized in buckets, such as legos, dress-up, cars, etc. My favorite sound is when he's going through the Music bucket. Whistles, harmonica, mini drum, clapper thing- he tests each one as he takes it out of the bucket.

the magnet to my sons wooden trains. HE LOVES THEM. Of all of his battery filled toys, he will play with these the most. I try not to buy toys with batteries or toys that function even with out batteries. I'm a single mom so money on batteries just is stupid. I don't have that kind of money.
I think battery toys take away the chance to use the imagination. I really try my hardest not to buy toys with the batteries, but sometimes for long car rides, you just so happen to need something that talks or has a screen.
