So What Happened?

Thanks for all the wonderful advice. I guess I just have to be patient...that's the key here. We were all up at 4:15 this morning...and she's generally more tired and cranky than she is normally. So, I'll just wait it out and hope it resolves itself within a few days.

Since you were there for over a month, it may take longer than what the previous responders said. Anytime I went anywhere with my infant it took about a week to get her back on the sleep schedule. But when I stayed more than 2 weeks, it took way longer! They are getting back into the swing of things in more than just the time of day they sleep - feeding schedule, sleeping schedule, new/old environment and bed. I frequently did 3 week stays in only a 2 hour time difference and it took me a whole month to get her to sleep the whole night through again!

I used to live overseas with a 12 hour time difference. It used to take my son about a week to be completely back to normal.

Our family does a lot of traveling and the rule of thumb for jet lag recovery for adults is 1 day per hour of time change. For children it's generally twice as long.
For a 5 hour time change it's best to start the time shift before the return trip then finish it when you get home.

Since you are home already, just be paitent and give it a couple weeks.

It takes about one day per hour of time zone difference. After being away with an 8 hour change, it'll take about 8 days to readjust. Do what you can to keep her up in the day, keep her curtains open in the daytime, if she is up a lot in the night and very alert do what you can to keep it quiet, low lighting, and boring....good luck to you, I hope she is feeling much better.

3-5 days depending on the time difference. For time diff of 8 hrs about 3 days. For time diff 12-15 hrs about 4-5 days. I suggest doing it gradualy 3-4 hours each day. Sleep with the baby and you all will switch at the same time.
