I've Never Been So Exhausted...

I have no help (other than my 6 and 7 year olds) until my husband gets home around 4... I'm so completely drained. We didn't sleep well last night and today has been a nightmare with the baby and his leg splint. I'm not sure I'm going to make it!!

What are some of your pick me ups? I can't run to the store, and I'm house sitting, I don't even know what's here other than music (singing sometime's helps), coffee, and water.

Plus, I feel like I'm getting a sinus infection, and I'm wondering if I have a fever, on top of everything else :(

I can't nap until baby naps, and even then, since he'll be in bed with me (I don't want him trying to climb out of the pack and play with the splint on), I probably won't rest easy anyway :(

What's your favorite quick pick me up?

What can I do next?

About 30 minutes before the exhaustion really sets in, have a protein drink and a B complex.
There are other ways to get "hyped up," but in the long run those are all going to lead to poor health and more problems.

Chocolate. But since you can't go get any, how about having a pizza delivered? I am a pizza nut, but my husband not so much. He always knows when I have had a most craptastic day because he comes home to delivery. :) Wow I guess all my stress relievers are food, It's a wonder I don't weigh twice as much as I do!

Coffee or Mountain Dew (alternate this with large amounts of water).

Motivating myself somehow - for ex, if I clean this and make it through this day, I will treat myself with "x". Or, having something to look forward to, whatever that may be.

A nap - the only solution sometimes.

For me, doing a little yoga really helps release stress. Even when I am tired, I feel like if I am at least calmer I feel better. :)

I am so sorry you are feeling so overwhelmed. I am super tired this week too. I can't figure it out...other than the weather turned sucky again...

I live off of coffee and cigarettes. Great for my figure, terrible for everything else. B vitamins, ginseng, green tea and power naps(10-25 minutes) are a great way to NATURALLy recharge, though

I like to order pizza on days I'm not up to much. Rent a movie on pay per view. You can leave the owners a few bucks for the movie. If they don't have pay per view, find something to watch. I know your little one has good reason to be restless and this is new to you both. But this is going to feel like a long hard road to travel if you don't get strict with him. Make it clear that for his sake he needs to be still. Personally, I'd swat the bumm if needed to make sure he doesn't put that leg out of place again before the cast.

What's up with the ER's not doing casts? When my 8 year old broke her wrist they casted it. Then I went to the other doctor for cast changes. The last 3 children I know of that broke something didn't get a real cast at the hospital.

A Diet Mountain Dew and my Rowdy Pandora station!

Cash_twins Mama-- it's my understanding is that it's standard practice to set the bone and splint it and then put a cast on it a few days later when the swelling has gone down/stabilized. That way you don't end up with a cast that is either dangerously tight if the swelling increases or that is too loose and rubs and irritates and may not stay in position if the swelling goes way down

I'll usually make a strong iced coffee and have a snack that has protein and some natural sugars, like peanut butter and sliced apples or cottage cheese and fruit. Hang in there!

in your situation, I'd take a tall glass of water and eat something with natural sugar -- apple, banana, juice.

If I thought I was getting sick, I would NOT drink a soda or anymore coffee.
