Ok I got the Paraguard IUD last year. I'm supposed to be coming up on my 1 year check up pretty soon now.
I haven't had any problems, everything is still in place.
My issue is that I do NOT have health insurance right now. Is it really that big of a deal if I don't go to the Dr appointment?
I know, a big part of me is like, "hey don't mess with it, just go" But every other Dr. appointment Ive been to has been the same thing.
Check for strings, everything is there, ok you're done, that will be $50 (or something)
I also know that you can have these IUDs in for years...
What do you lovely ladies think?
Should I just suck it up, find the cash, and go?

What can I do next?

Eh.. I have had mine since 2009 and had it checked once with my pap smear.

Go if it bugs you, but I would not worry about it if you can still feel the strings and you are not in any pain or discomfort or missing periods.

Get it done at your next physical exam. Do it all at once then hopefully your payment won't be for nothing. :P

I wouldn't go in just for that alone, but when you go in for your regular check-up/pap test, they can check it then.

I say just go. I know it sounds like a waste of $ and time but it's better to be safe than sorry. Maybe you could find a clinic where you live that provides free women health care. Good luck!

I wouldn't go for a IUD check. If you are due a pap, then yes but not just for that. Good luck mama.

If you don't have the $$, go to a FREE clinic....An IUD can adhere (attach) to your uterous and cause some real problems.....Get it checked and my advice (from personal experience)....get it out!

Blessings.....
