iTouch Type Toy for Kid

My 2 year old loves using my iTouch. He is very good at it and is able to navigate through it very well. My concern is that my iTouch is issued to me by my company and I don't want anything to happen to it. My question is I would like something similar for him that has a touchpad and navigation for pictures, music, and downloadable apps like flashcards and toddler games. Obviously for a 2 year old "toy" I don't want to spend the money that an iTouch costs. So does anyone know of a similar device that would work as an adequate substitute?

What can I do next?

I have never seen anything similar, sadly enough, As ridiculous as it sounds my 3, 7 and 13 year old, including myself and hubby, have the iTouch. The kids only get theirs under very controlled circumstances, but we broke down and used our Best Buy Reward points, their money and a little of ours and bought them one. Isn't it amazing how quick kids can learn? My three year old can whip around the ITouch as if he was playing with it in the womb. If you watch Best Buy online they will sometimes put them on sale. Also, if you are not a reward member...becomes one. Their points add up quicker than you think and the certs come in handy when you are buying something that you really can't justify (he he)!

My 3 year old is the same way with my husband's iPhone. We recently bought a cheap knock-off but it just doesn't compare -- it is not really a good touch screen but instead needs a stylus. So what we've been thinking of doing is buying a used or older generation iTouch or maybe a refurbished one directly from Apple (which is then under warranty).

I don't know of a good alternative, but will tell you that you can usually buy a new iTouch for slightly less than retail at amazon.com, with no tax and no shipping costs.

Yes, the iPhone and itouch are so intuitive for kids to use and they navigate it so amazingly. My kids LOVE playing on my Hubby's. And the app's are really fun/educational for kids.

I would, go to an Apple store.. and ask them on what is out there that is SIMILAR to the iTouch... other brands etc.
I have done that, at my local Apple store. They, or at least the 2 guys I spoke with, were very helpful and DID tell me what "alternatives" are out there that don't cost as much.

You could also do a Google search on it.
Or try and get on on E-bay or something... perhaps it would cost less there?

All the best,
Susan
