Items Needed for Pre-k Class

Each school usually has a list of items needed. It's always nice to buy extra hand sanitizer, wipes and tissue though. These are items shared by the class.

I have been teaching 4K for 14 years and would like to offer the following suggestions: consumable items such as Play dough, glue sticks, tape; creative recycling things such as cardboard tubes from paper towels, buttons, packing peanuts, old fabric and lace scraps; outdoor durable toys such as trucks, buckets, shovels (like the Fisher Price kind), etc. You will, of course, want to talk with the teachers about their specific needs for their classes, but I have always appreciated the donation of books and volunteer time! I also appreciate it when parents volunteer to send in special items for our cooking experiences. Have fun!

if he is going to be in a public school pre-k, you might want to check online at the school's web site. they usually have specific lists available for each grade level. if it's too early for that, i'd suggest calling or waiting...because aside from the lists by grade level,ususally you can even pre-order before the summer, and when your child starts school in the fall there will be a supply box all ready for him.

A change of clothes complete shirt/shorts or pants depending on weather , socks, underwear. You can put them in a gallon ziplock bag I would write name on bag as well inside clothes on label. All jackets need to have his name on them. Male a list of medical things like meds, allegic, dr information, insurance. Family info such as work numbers for you and spouse, realtive numbers or emergency contacts..Hope this Helps GOD BLESS....P.S. Tissues for Mommy ...

My son is in prek now and they asked for 1 folder,backpack,change of clothes underware socks and all,stick of glue,hand sanitizer,mat and a blanket.I don't recall anything else but they don't need all that much for prek

It is dependent on the school and/or teacher. When I was teaching Pre-K, each child needed to bring in a full change of clothes in a large plastic bag. This included pants, shirt, underwear, and socks. Be prepared to switch out the clothes as the seasons change. I wanted each child to have a small over the shoulder bag or small backpack to carry school papers, artwork, etc. home on a daily basis. I also asked parents to bring in a box of tissue (always in short supply with little ones!). There was a rotating snack list that parents volunteered to take turns buying each week.

That's great you got a spot, my son was 7th on the wait and got in in Sept. You shouldn't need too much. Just a backpack big enough for his stuff, small pillow and blanket for nap and a lunch box. In my son's class they need a change of clothes (socks and undies too) just in case. I put everything in a gallon ziplock bag with his name on it. I can't think of anything else offhand.

My son is currently in pre-k at our local school and all he needed was a change of clothes, a nap mat, blanket (if they want on for nap), a bookbag, and they asked for tissues at the beginning of the year. You will be so happy he got into the class. Our son has learned so much.

I'll just tell you what was asked of my son. The nap time mat with a small blanket or large towel. His class is allowed a small stuffed animal to nap with. A back pack... whatever kind but one with out wheels. Of course if your son is going to take his lunch to school a lunch box is need.

That's all that was asked of my son to have. They do request things for the class like cleaning wipes, hand sanitizer and kleenex because there is never enough. Especially the days when everyone is sick and/or having runny noses.

you might want to wait... you'll probably get a list from the school. For example, my son's preschool wanted a tote bag without a zipper instead of a backpack. No sense spending money on things you don't need.

You will need things like Baby Wipes, Hand soap, Sanitizer, pencils, crayons, markers (both wide tip and fine tip and preferrably washable), Fiskar Scissors, Tissues, Zip Lock Bags gallon size and quart size, Folder's. That is what my son needed here on Fort Stewart. You will also need a back pack (NO WHEELS)

you don't have to buy anything for pre-k. now if you want to donate tissue, and other things the teachers will love you for it.
