I have had a very itchy scalp lately could this be from my shampoo? I have been using the same for several months now. I have tried baby oil to soothe it at night. Any other suggestions are welcomed.

Sounds like dermatitis. Just a fancy name for inflamation of the scalp. I have it, and it gets much worse in the winter. Dryer air, and less sunlight. Nutragena T-Gel works for me, and I only have to use it once a week or so. Sometimes if it's not too bad just switching up your shampoo helps.
I get really itchy in the winter. It sometimes drives me nuts. The doctor said it is due to being indoors all the time, especially with the heat. It is a form of dermatitis. You could try switching shampoos for 6 weeks to see if that helps. For me, I use my husband's Head and Shoulders for a few weeks and then go back to my regular shampoo. There could also be a buildup of product if you regularly use gel or mousse, or even apply conditioner to your whole head. You could try to forego any extra products for a couple of weeks.
Have you considered the possibility of head lice?
It could be because the air is very arid in the winter. It could be a dermitits issue that may need to be treated.
I'd ask someone to take a look - if you can see things moving around quickly or specks (what appears to be normal dirt) aren't easily dislodged, it may be head lice which will cause you to be very itchy because of an allergic reaction to their saliva.

I get this every winter. It is so annoying, and the little bumps hurt. I haven't tried it yet but read that olive oil is great for soothing it. I went online a couple weeks ago and looked up home remedies to soothe itchy dry scalp and found some stuff, and since I already have olive oil, that is what I am going to try. I also use a gentle tea-tree oil shampoo. It is kinda smelly so I use my regular shampoo after, but it really helps too. Rosemary is supposed to be good too. Fresh is best, steep some in hot water, and rinse with it. I think that is how it said to apply it. Or you can get rosemary oil, but I wouldn't have a clue where to get that.
My Grandaugher is experiencing this same thing. We are blaming it on the long winter and the warm dry air in our home. Doc gave her a shampoo called Sodium Sulfacetamide 10% and Sulfur 5% Cleanser. I don't see that is has helped at all. We just wash often and moisture each time. I don't use any special (salon) shampoos. We are using Head and Shoulders for Dry Itchy Scalp and then moisturize with OTC conditioners. Aussie is great!
Could be a vitimin B12 difficiency.
I have this happen ALL THE TIME, I have highly sensitive skin and skin allergies. It usually clears up if I switch shampoos. My allergist recommended I use head and shoulders or selsun blue. They worked great for awhile but after about a year I acquired a skin sensitivity to both. What I do now is keep several bottles of shampoo in the house and rotate every couple weeks. It has help the issue some not cured it though. I used to use clinique shampoo but haven't been able to find it anymore. It was expensive but worked GREAT.
Yes, you could be allergic to your shampoo. I react to any of the Suave shampoos myself and cannot use them.
bowl of bakeing soda and add a little bit of warm water to make almost like a paste and soak your head , leave on a few minutes and rinse out and samhpoo. will remove all the product building. also works wonders on cradle cap. good luck, mom of 7, R.
We are ALL about " all natural" stuff in my home. I second the baking soda. My husband uses it on his scalp. He has always had dandruff & in the winter he gets the adult equivalent of "cradle cap". Anyhow. I turned him on to tea tea oil, Dr. Bronners Soap (we use the Mint) & also using baking soda as an exfoliant. Since he has been using the baking soda on his scalp ( I say this & I kid you not! I have the pics to prove it) not only has his dry skin improved 7 stayed away , as long as he exfoliates when he needs to, but the stimulation to his hair follicles has made his hair start growing back & made it grow in thicker!!! He was thinning very badly (his mother has very thin hair, it runs on his Moms side of the family & he has been thinning since he was in his late teens) & now it is growing back. Woo hoo!

It could be a fungus infection, if the bumbs turn into scaps, you need to see a dermatologist. This happened to my son after swimming in a lake. Had to take antibiotic for 6 months to cure it.
I would get a bottle of tee tree oil and add a few drops to the shampoo when you wash your hair. It is a natural anti fungal, works great on cratle cap too!
I have developed an allergy to Pantene Shampoo recently after using it for many years. I changed to a different one, not the one for dry hair but to the one for curly hair, and I am having less itching and bumps.
