Head & shoulders. If the white bottles don't do much for you (like me) then they sell a dark blue bottle of it. The shampoo is orange. I highly recommend it. Good luck!
My two year old daughter has a very itchy scalp (she itches to the point of open sores/scabs.) We have changed to a very mild shampoo that is free of dyes and perfumes and then a couple weeks later added a conditioner...neither of which have helped. We have ruled out lice. The doctor said we are just dealing with a case of dry scalp. Any suggestions for products that might help or anything else we can do? Thanks moms!

Tea tree shampoo and conditioner worked wonders for my daughter at that age. Let it sit for several minutes before rinsing.
More oils in her diet? Olive oil and avocados?
I would try to apply olive oil to her scalp using a q-tip. Leave it on overnight or as long as you can before washing. I believe using tear free shampoo makes it worse...so pitch that stuff, if you have any.
The other thing I'd like to suggest is , whatever shampoo you decide to use...apply to her dry scalp and let it sit for 15 min before her bath. Poor girl.... Good luck!
Someone may have already mentioned this, but tea tree shampoos are great for dry scalp. The best one I found is from Neutrogena.
I have issues with my daughter's scalp - dry and flaky. She had bad cradle cap when she was a baby. Take aloe and rub it all over her scalp - let it set for about an hour or more (I leave it in all day sometimes) and then rinse out - I don't wash until the next day. You can do this as much as you need to - very safe! It has worked wonders for my daughter since she was a baby - she's 5 now. Best wishes!
My youngest tends to have a itchy scalp - not to the extent yours does - when his allergies are going nuts. Maybe she's reacting to allergies and it's showing as an itchy scalp ? Mayble talk to the doctor about putting her on an antihistimine (zytec, claratin, etc) and see if that helps.
Try tea tree shampoo. It's infused with a pepperminty smelling oil, that works wonders on my daughter's dry scalp. I'd stay away from head & shoulders, or other 'dandruff' shampoos...because if it's not really dandruff she has, using those products can actually make it worse! (I know this from personal experience.) Also, put a humidifier in her room to put some moisture back in the air. Good luck!
Aloe is great for itchy skin. It is very soothing and works really well. It is naturally ph-Balanced, antibacterial, fungicidal and great for healing, eczema, psoriasis. We use Forever Living Shampoo and Conditioner. All the products start with organically grown aloe and are a fantastic natural alternative! My husband has had terrible dandruff and tried lots of different shampoos and alternative shampoos and this has definitely worked the best! There is also a money back guarantee. If you don't love it, then just return it! You can get it on my website www.tomikoevans.myflpbiz.com or let me know if I can help ____@____.com
Did the physician recommend a dermatologist? Outside of Muncie, you mainly have primary care providers, and I'm not sure how many dermatologists are in the area who might recommend a good product.
Here's what Google's showing for local Dermatologists in your area:

Unfortunately, most of the products I'd recommend would leave her hair really greasy, and the washing to remove the grease would agitate her scalp.
If possible, I'd try washes/shampoos designed for kids. Eucerine has a new baby wash that's really good (no idea on cost because I received a free sample), Aveeno products tend to be a little more gentle. We still use baby washes for our kids to wash their hair even though they're 2 and 3.5 years.
I think I would personally take her in to see a dermotologist. She shouldn't have to suffer through itching until the bleeding point. I also have dry skin and get a dry itchy scalp in the winter, and I use regular olive oil as a scalp treatment. It does help, but has to be re-done weekly or so.
My son always had the same problem. When he was little and didn't have much hair my pediatrician recommended just washing his hair with a moisturizing soap like Dove, unscented. It worked great. He's now 15 and still struggles with extremely dry scalp. After trying a million things, we've discovered a shampoo and conditioner called Joico -their extra moisturizing. You have to buy it from a beauty supply place, but it's been the first thing in years that has worked really well.
I had a strange itchy oily scalp issue in which the only solution that worked was tea tree shampoo at trader joes. I t was so great I think it is worth a try. It is natural.
Are you sure she doesn't have psoriasis? It might be worth having a pediatric dermatologist look at it, just to be sure.
I would try Melaleuca shampoos. Melaleuca has wonderful, natural products that work great at clearning up allergies from normal store brands. Many cases of eczema have been cleared up from the Melaleuca soaps and other products. Check out my website www.livetotalwellness.com/joycita or send me an email ____@____.com and I'll be happy to give you as much information on their prodcuts and help you get into the Melaleuca stores (it's an online wholesale store, products delivered to your door.). I've loved using all of their products, and they sure help my skin a lot!
My daughter has the same problems, I use either tea tree shampoos, or if I don't have a chance to find any, I use Prell plus for kids.
Bless her little heart! I don't really have any advice for you, but have you asked the doctor if they have some recommendations for you? Or maybe even a trusted hairstylist would have some recommendations. Other than that, maybe it would be best for your daughter to not wash her hair as often as normal. Maybe that way, her scalp would be allowed more time to produce it's own natural oils??? Gosh, I don't know. But, I hope you get some helpful ideas here!
