My baby is two months old now and I am still recovering from the delivery. It still hurts when I stand up for too long and sitting down for too long really hurts too. Every time i sit down to go to the bathroom it hurts. At my 6 week check up they told me I had torn a couple stitches. I have stopped bleeding, but i still have this greenish discharge. I have to wear a panty liner every day becasue of it and it always gets full of it. At my 6 week apointment my midwife said it wasn't a yeast infection. What is it? Could it be related to tearing my stitches? Is this normal? If so how long does it last?
Well I did go see the doctor and he said that he didn't see anything abnormal. Of course by the time that I called to make the appointment I was already not having quite as much discharge. He said he saw a little mucous, but he didn't see any signs of infections. He gave me an antibiotic just in case. The only thing he found was some scar tissue on the inside which he liquid nitrogened off and I have to go back in two weeks for a check up. He said that I am just going to have to give my soreness some time - it wasn't the easiest delivery. I am glad that it was nothing, but I still think green is weird. oh well. Thank you for your concern and advice.
Green is not normal. It signals infection. Unless your midwife takes a culture, she can't be sure what it is. A yeast infection would be itching you like crazy, so she's probably right there.. See a doctor and get a culture, or maybe even an internal exam. Something may still be stuck up there, and that ain't good. Let us know how it goes and what you found out!

I would go and see your Dr. That doesn't sound right to me. Pain and a green discharge sounds like a clot may be retained and possibly infected. Do you have a temperature? Are the stitches internal that have torn? maybe the discharge is from the raw tissue around where the stitches were and just the action of rubbing is causing fluid to come out. What ever the cause is I would go and see your Dr. It doesn't hurt to go see them you have to be healthy to look after your new baby.
Definitely go see the doc. Green is not a good color for discharge. It usually means infection and there could be complications from the stitches tearing. No matter what, it is better to be safe than sorry. You shouldn't be sore after 2 months of recovery. Maybe tired or stressed, but not sore. Sounds like an infection to me! Good luck!
I had a nine pound 8 oz baby and was sore for MONTHS. It hurt whenever I stood and went to the bathroom as well. I also leaked fluid for a long time (yellowish greenish) though not as much as you and the doctor told me it was still lochia and that it was normal and could take several months to stop (it didn't last nearly as long with my second child). It seemed like it took forever to get better but I did. You may want to at least call or go in just in case because it may be something different...as I said, it wasn't nearly as much discharge as you seem to be having.
No it is not normal and you go to a doctor and get help. You have an infection and that could be fatal if untreated.
I am married to a doctor that delivers babies for 30 years.
If you are hurting and in pain with discharge please do go see a doctor asap.
