So about 3 hours ago my belly got really tight and has stayed that way. Also I have been having lower back pain. Its like really tight and uncomfortable. I dont remeber experiencing this with my first pregnancy (I had to be induced with her). Just curious if that was what was happening. Its not painful but really uncomfortable and hard to move around (like up and down stairs). I have been pretty much non stop since then and havent really had a chance to rest so could that be prolonging it? I have been drinking tons of water. Thanks ladies in advance, love this site.

Sorry forgot to say that I am 31 weeks

What can I do next?

I get these ALL the time. As long as they don't get more intense and painful or get closer together they're totally normal. Relax, have a snack, take a warm bath or shower. I also didn't have them with my first pregnancy but get them very frequently with my third.

Yes! This happened to me frequently. Go rest and take it easy. The constant activity, really makes them worse. (at least, in my experience.) Continue drinking lots of water. Something that really helped me, was to take a warm bath. It can't be hot, just warm. If you have a water thermometer, it shouldn't be more then body temperature. (98.6) This is what my Dr. told me to do and it helped so much!! Good luck.

Completely normal. That is just your body slowly getting ready for labour. If they start to get painful and regular, then call whoever you are meant to call. After 37 weeks, you'll be wishing it to be real labour!!!

I am a midwife. Braxton hicks start as early as 6 weeks. This is completely normal and helps the uterus prepare itself for the work of labor.

You just need to reset. Lay dows with your legs up on a pillow just in case! But it does sound like Braxton hicks.

Well how far along are you? I mean yeah it totally sounds like braxton hicks but if you are close to your due date just keep an eye on how far apart they are, if they start to get stronger and stay consistent etc.

First thing you should do is go lay down on your left side. If you have more that 4 in an hour, call your ob. I had braxton hicks w/ our second pregnancy from 16 weeks on. There really is no way to know one from the other. Your ob may want to examine you to see if you are dialating. Good luck!
