D.P.
I have a friend whose stylist has been coming to her house for YEARS. She does my friend, her two sons and sometimes her husband!
Not weird.
She has been doing my hair for probably 11 years. I would say we are kinda friends now. Anyways, she works nights and Im on her way home. Our family is getting our pictures taken Thursday night and I want to get my daughters hair cut before then. Problem is my husband works late every night so I would have to squeeze in dinner, homework, and drag all 3 kids to her shop 30 minutes away.
I asked her if she would be interested in coming to the house before or after work one night to cut my daughters hair. She said she would see what she could do. I told her if she cannot, I completely understand and I will pull off bringing her to the shop. She does my sister and my moms hair too and when I told my sister and my mom that I asked her to come to my house, they looked at me like that is super weird.
Do you think its a weird request?

Not weird.
My stylist offered and came to my house while I was on bed rest with my 2nd child. She said she does this all the time for her long-time clients who have special needs. If she agrees - tip her well. :)
No, not weird... my Mom gets this request from her regulars too, for special situations or events.
Many stylists do house calls. Especially those who do hair for special occasions. Just make sure you give her a great tip to cover gas and inconvenience...if she doesn't include that in her fee.
Not really, I have gone to my beautician's home to get my hair cut. Heck most of the time they prefer it because they don't have to give the cut to the salon.
No not at all. Many beauticians do this.
No, not at all. Lots of hairstylists do it, especially if you are a long time customer.
No.

It sounds like you know her pretty well, I don't think its strange. Did she agree to do it?
I have had two former stylists that did house calls! Make sure you offer extra pay for the drive time, doing a house call and potentially missing other clients she could do back to back in the salon.
Well, my hair stylist is my best friend so she ALWAYS does my hair at home.
Not strange AT ALL, but rather quite smart ;)
Not weird in my opinion..it's been 11 years! If she's willing, go for it!
Since she's been doing your hair for 11 yrs I think it was fine to ask her to your home... I'm sure it's fairly common practice.
I'm not sure if it makes a difference if the sylist has her own shop/business, but I had an experience with a stylist who was employed by a chain salon. She told me because of the license rules in the state, they were not allowed to do this, she would lose her job and also her license.
My stylist came to my house to cut my hair the day after my wedding. I had grown it out because I wanted an up do for the wedding, but wanted it cut shorter for our honeymoon so I wouldn't have to worry about drying it and all. We were leaving first thing Monday morning for our honeymoon and the shop was closed on Sunday, so she came to my place to do it. I tipped her extra for the special favor and for having to drive a little farther, but it was great! I don't think it was weird at all.
Friends of ours are friends with a hair stylist and she comes to their house to cut all their hair, as well as color her mom's hair, and give hubby an eyebrow waxing. I would just tip appropriately (i.e. generously).
Not weird but tip extra.
