Been there! Try something called "Grease Lightning". This is amazing stuff and you can buy it at Home Depot.....worked for me. Good Luck!
Hello Ladies!
My daughter got a hold of a permanent marker (blue if that matters) for a short peroid of time, unfortunately it was long enough to get it on one of her nice outfits (cream shirt). I tried hair spray, oxy clean, and washed it already. Is there anything else I can do/try? Or are we out of luck on this one?
Thanks,
AM
Well.....It didn't all come out, but I sure do appreciate everyone's input on this...and now I know better "IF" there's a next time. Unfortunatley what I didn't know was DON'T DRY IT and I had already done that before I posted my question. So, now I know! It's going to be a very nice little play outfit for just a couple more weeks...or until mother nature decides it's really spring and not still winter around here! :) Thanks ladies!

I've used a product that will remove lipstick, tar, glue and even permament magic marker. I would love to give you more information.

Have you tried soaking it in white vinegar and water? This works when color bleeds onto anything white. Good luck
I am a scientist, and we use sharpies all the time at work. Ethanol seems to take it out of most things. The other lady that responded about using everclear is correct. The type of alcohol in everclear is ethanol. I'm not sure if you can buy straight ethanol unless it is for scientific purposes, but everclear is pretty close. I've used ethanol to get stains out of shirts before (marker stains) and it worked well.
Try Kids N Pets. You can find it at most Walmarts in the cleaning aisle. My son used a permanent marker on our couches, walls, and coffee table one time. This got ti out of the couches (after a few treatments) and off the table (we also used alcohol for the table). It may not work on your shirt, but it's worth a try! I would use it as if you aren't going to wash it in the washer ... try a few applications and rub it with another cloth or your hands.
I use triple action shout, let sit for a long time then wash. I use my soaking selection on my washing machine for certain stains. Always use cold water for stains. Do NOT dry. Repeat tlc to get the stain out before you dry it. I find by the second or third time it comes clean. If it was a marker like a sharpie...it doesn't sound like good news. But it's worth the try. Shout is used for all stains in my household which makes our clothing stain free. Try it!
Hi, have you tried Awesome cleaner or Krud Kutter. I have used Krud Kutter (found at most walmarts - the one in the yellow/red bottle.) Krud will clean just about anything. Awesome cleaner found at most dollar stores will take out a lot of stuff too. I have used it to take out ball point ink stains. Not sure if it will work on the marker though. Hope this helps.

My daughter (then 2, now 3, drew all over our CARPET: cream, now black and cream) with a black magic marker. I called several companies who laughed and said, "That is why it is called permanent, lady, but if you want us to try we will come and charge you $300!" :) Good luck with this, but you may need to make it a play shirt....
Not sure if it will work after everything else you've tried, but rubbing alcohol has always removed permanent marker for us. Funny enough, if you happen to have Everclear (the drinking/alcohol kind), it is a more potent form of alcohol that should work even better than rubbing alcohol. Good luck!
Sock it with a little dishwashing detergent I find they usually take anything out Good luck
Try "Spot Shot". It's in the carpet / upholstery cleaner section at the Grocery store, blue /purple can with an orange top. Don't put the outfit in the dryer until you know the stain is completely gone.
If you know any body that sells Quixtar (Amway), get one of their Prewash products. I was able to get the security ink stains out of a pair of pants that I bought at Fashion Shack. I had only paid 99 cents for the Liz Claiborne pants with the security ink cartridge (previously activated and still attached). Fashion Shack couldn't remove the SIC from the pants, so I had to remove that myself as well. Trust me, the stain was easier to remove than the SIC.
Good Luck!

Might be too late if you have "set" the stain using the dryer. HOWEVER, I would try to soak the stain in rubbing alcohol and then wash again. Then soak with alcohol and soak for about three days in the oxyclean. In the future, if you can catch that stain right away the alcohol is a wonder! I once removed a LARGE mass of scribbles on tan carpet--we were moving and my two year old got a hold of the giant "moving" marker for marking boxes. The only alcohol in the house was vodka that was there for my husbands grandmother. The vodka removed the stain from the carpet. I normally just use rubbing alcohol...but I was grateful...we had already sold the house!
Has it been put in the dryer if so than t wont come out.Try Shout Advanced spray gel
