I was wondering if there is any pain medication I can give my baby before she gts her shots? It has been a while since I had a small one and I can not remember if there was anything I gave my first. (I hate the shots, I cried with my first and I know Im going to cry now!!!) Thank You

What can I do next?

I have 2 boys and just went through this with the 2nd about 5 months ago. I didn't give them anything before the shots - with the first he was totally fine and didn't need anything, with the second I think I gave him one does because he seemed just a little bit fussy. They usually have infant tylenol samples they can give you at the dr's office also. Good luck!

My pediatrician always said to give them a little tylenol before they come in.

My pediatrician always recommended infant Motrin to be taken about a half hour before the injections and then another dose later in the day for any pain, swelling, fever, etc. Consult your doctor for the recommended dose for your childs weight.
Lots of love and attention too! I think it is more painful for the moms sometimes!

My doc had me give baby tylynol at the beginning of the appointment. 1/2 a dropper. If you bring a bottle your doctor can help you.

I always give some tylenol at the Dr's office (after the nurse has taken the temperature). That way it is in their system when the pain begins.

Tylenol works great, give to your baby about an hour before she gets her shots, also take a sucker with you, (sugarfree) and give it to her after she gets her shots, the great taste will help keep her mind off the pain from the shots, i do this for both my girls, my MIL is the one who suggested it to me when i had my oldest daughter and she was going in for her 1st shots and it works great, less crying once you give them the sucker. hope this helps

I agree with what everyone has said Tylenol an hour before works great! I have a 9m old and I bring his fav a whole wheat teether cracker and it takes his mind off the pain.

I gave my son 1/2 dropper a 1/2 hour before the appt on advise from the pediatrician. He has his 2nd set of shots in a couple weeks and I will do the same thing.

Bring infant Tylenol with you. Your dr. will tell you how much she can have based on her weight. I have 2 kids as well and still get upset during shots.
