I've used stainless steel bowls and cookware for over 50 years. Food will NOT take on a metallic taste because it's an inert metal unlike cast iron and possibly aluminum. Iron does bleed into foods and some say that aluminum does too but stainless steel does not. One cannot use aluminum utensils for such things as hair permanents and dyes because the metal interacts with the chemicals. But one can use stainless steel for those things.
Stainless steel is metal and can be used in a freezer.
I've refrigerated soups in stainless steel cookware for as long as a week and it did not affect the taste of the soup. I would not refrigerate food in cast iron or aluminum.
