I've never heard of it, but we do snowboarding on groomed slopes and hiking/climbing backcountry. Skiing isn't something I do... but it makes me doubtful it's a good brand, because if you google it Polar Edge ski stuff doesn't flood the screen. But, as I said, I'm not a skier, so I could be wrong.

For backcountry we're super brand loyal to OutdoorResearch (check out any national geographic and you'll se the OR logo all over the place in their photographs). For snowboarding we do a combo of:

UnderArmor
OR
Burton
Patagonia
SmartWool

Polar Edge is an Academy brand. If you don't go skiing that often, I am sure it would be fine. If you want to buy something that will last or you plan to go skiing more often, you may want to invest in a top of the line brand like North Face, Patagonia, Marmot, etc. Check out your local REI for a good selection.
