Two days. My husband and I went before kids and couldn't do it all in one, with kids added, you will definitely find it more enjoyable if you span it over two days.
Hi, ladies. We are going to be going to San Antonio in a couple of weeks with our 6 year old DD and almost 4 year old DS. We are planning on going to SeaWorld, and I was wondering if 1 day would be enough at SeaWorld. With the $5 child ticket with every adult purchase promo, we could get 4 tickets for us for $127.98, or we could get FunPasses which could be used all year long (we would probably only use it for 2 days) for the 4 of us for $217.96. Is it worth the additional $90 for an additional day, or can we "do it all" in one day? What's your thoughts? We were thinking if we did 2 days, one day could be mainly shows and such, and the other day could be the waterpark and splash zones of the shows. With our kids being so young and not doing big waterslides, does anyone know if the waterpark has plenty of stuff for the younger ones. Also, any suggestions on "must-dos" at SeaWorld like feed the dolphins, etc. Also, someone had mentioned Wildlife Ranch not too far from San Antonio... anyone ever done that?

my husband worked there for years and we've always had a season pass. For one year, we actually lived right across the street. If I never go to Sea World again, it will be just fine with me. :)
I think one day is plenty if you're not doing the water park. That can be a whole day to itself in this heat so if you decide to go to the water park area, maybe set a time limit or do plan to go for two days. Kids love water parks and sea world san antonio has a good one. Get there early so you can make the most of the show schedule. It isn't THAT big, but I would suggest going on a week day not a weekend, getting there as early as you can and being prepared for some long lines for rides. At six, though, there are a lot of rides she cannot ride.
Have fun!
I would recommend two days. We went to San Antonio for vacation last year and only did one day at Sea World. We did two shows (Believe and the Sea Lion show) and then we went straight to the water park. We didn't have much time for anything else, so I would definitely say two days would be ideal. We felt like we didn't get to do enough, so when we go back we will make sure we have two days to spend there.
There is a wild life drive thru about 1/2 that is alot of fun as the animals come up to your car to be fed they have a similar one in Glen Rose we have gone to and the kids really like it.I have no clue on Sea World but would love to know for myself the same as we maybe going this summer.
We are going this week to Sea World, and we have 2 boys- 2 1/2 and 5. We are going for two days, with the plan to be spending most of one of the days in the water park. We definitely felt it was worth the extra money for one extra day to allow us to see everything without being too rushed with little ones. My 5 year old is very adventurous and wants to do some roller coasters and definitely the water slides. Your 6 yr old may not want to, but there are several rides she should be tall enough for. Your 4 year old might be tall enough for a couple as well. Even if you don't do rides, there are several play areas for small kids in the main park as well as the water park area. I would go for two days if it doesn't stretch the budget to much.
It is for sure worth $90 for a second day. The first day you will want to try to see the shows but you may not be able to see them all. And there may be ones you want to see more than once. The second day do the water park and yes there is plenty for young kids. Then when you are done swimming you can go back to the shows you want to see again. We try to get a map and show times as soon as we get in the park and plot our stratagies. Figure out what shows we want to go to first. The seat about 30 mins before and at the good shows they start crouding early. So some of the ones you got to see but not close up the second day you will have more chance to do so. Have fun!
I would recommend going 2 days. We went a few years ago my boys were 5 and almost 3. Through our bank's website DATCU you can get 2 days for almost the same price as 1 day - the kids would not be $5. This way you have enough time to do the waterpark and the shows and have some time for breaks and rest. We're going later this summer and plan to go 2 days. Our kids are 9, 7 and 21 months. I have never been to the Wildlife Ranch but Fiesta Texas is lots of fun and not crowded at all.
O.M.G. ONE DAY IS PLENTY!! (insert hysterical laughter here)
We JUST got back from taking our 17 yr old and our 3 yr old to SeaWorld and can tell you that if you get there at opening, ONE DAY IS ENOUGH.
By the time we got IN the gate it was already 85 degrees and we were tired of being there and then had to wait to get into the lagoon for almost 30 minutes because they posted the wrong time at the parking station and then got told another time by a worker so we had to stand in line for a while just to get in.
The shows however are awesome and if you're going there with older kids they'll need the whole day to ride the rides and see the shows, etc. But I can honestly tell you that me and the wee one were ready to leave at 3 (doors opened at 10) and that was even pushing it a little.
I think the one day admission and get in all year deal is great if you live close but for us, we got a two day pass for $45 and will probably make another trip in September or later when it cools down a bit so that we don't end up looking like we've walked the Sierra....
FYI: There is a great place for the wee ones in the water park side. There's also a place to play in water in the main park too. Feeding the dolphins went over HUGE with both the 17 yr old AND the 3 yr old and we even ended up on TV as a local station was there to film. I'd see Azul <sp>, Believe and the otter sealion shows as they are in an area where you can get some shade and cool down.
I hope you have a GREAT time! All in all, and even with the heat, we had an awesome time and will be back...albeit when it cools down.
Smiles to you!
We have gone to Sea World for our family vacation the past 2 years. The first year, our son was 3 (almost 4). We just about killed ourselves trying to get everything in in one day. Last year, we played it smarter. I bought 2 fun passes and 1 one year pass. They both have the same advantages of coming back all year, but the one year pass saved us because it included parking and gave us 10% off everything we purchased from food and drinks to souvenirs. I just saw that now it's 20% off! We actually went 3 days in a row so that we didn't have to rush to get there and took our time while we were there. We were able to fit in every show (our fave is La Vida), went on a behind the scenes excurssion (both years that we visited), and hung out in the water park for most of one day. The water park was ok but not our favorite of ones that we've been to. I hope that helps you with your planning and budget. Have fun! I don't know that we are going to get to go this year :( We've never been to Wildlife Ranch, but Natural Bridge Caverns is next door. We really enjoyed that last year along with Schlitterbaun.
There is a program where if you but your ticket at Albertson, it is the same cost as the daily pass, but you are able to use it the whole year. That is what we did but one day was enough. I don't know how it is now, because it is so hot outside, but I would check out the Albertson deal.
Based on the age of your kids, I recommend doing it in two days. I did it in one day with my sons when they were 10 and 13 and it was still a very long and very busy day. I would suggest that anyone with kids under 7, plan on two days unless you happen to have goods that are really good troopers and parents that have infinite patience. Either way, make sure you all get plenty of water.
