Is Mosquito Squad Safe for Kids and Pets?

I've used it in the past and as the Summer is approaching I'm starting to really think is it safe for kids and pets? I'm worried about the little ones out in the backyard. Also, I guess on one hand it kills the mosquitos which could also be a health issue, but at what cost? Is there a better way?

What can I do next?

Anything that kills pests can potentially be harmful to humans. The best, most effective way of killing mosquitos is a good spider population or bats. If you live in a wooded area you can set up bat housing to attract them (one bat can eat 1000 mosquitos a night).

You can also plant citronella and lavender, which repel mosquitos.

no it's not.
mosquitoes are a huge issue here. we live near the river, have big manure piles and a pond and a 700 acre cow farm across the lane. we breed hellacious bugs.
there are plants you can put in that are natural deterrents, although they are by no means close to 100% effective. but if you combine a lot of natural solutions (don't allow standing water, use Bt or diatomaceous earth in boggy places, plant lots of basil and lemongrass and chrysanthemums, put in bat houses) you can still enjoy being outside by adding physical barriers like netting over hats, light long-sleeved clothing and natural bug repellent.
i do use DEET but very sparingly, only when i'm going hiking or camping or otherwise venturing into the woods.

All that chemical stuff is horrible.
We never use any of it - our yard has toads (they eat plenty of bugs), frogs, blue tailed skinks, etc.
Best way to control mosquitoes is to deal with and eliminate breeding places - anyplace where there's standing water.

Anything that kills pests is harmful.
HOWEVER, in certain environments, we use DEET in a spray.
Make sure you don't have standing water, etc. In your yard.
I would not spray my kid/s every time they played in the back yard.

While I am totally against using chemicals on my lawn for cosmetic purposes I am all for using DEET, the only really effective mosquito repellant for health reasons. While using the chemical may pose it's own health issue, the mosquitos are the more immediate danger.
