Is Love Not Amazing?

I am amazed by this everytime but thought I would put it out there. My beautiful sister gave birth to another gorgeous daughter on Saturday. :-) We as a family are so happy they both came through relatively easy (is it ever easy??) lol. Anyway this gorgeous little cutie pie is here and we are in awe of her. My daughter who is 8, after meeting her new cousin for the first time said to me "mummy, I love her so much already and I only just met her" Later on I was thinking about it and I thought she is so right it is amazing that you can love someone in an instant (ok, we also loved her for the 9 months previous to her arrival) but you know what I mean. I love the excitement, I love how happy she has made her parents, brother, sister and all the rest of our family. So my question is why does it surprise me everytime? Honestly when I saw her I literally did a crazy jumping up and down thing and started making crazy noises. So not like me at all!!

What can I do next?

I agree...it is amazing. My youngest is 2.5mos and my older girls are 9 & 5yrs. The way they love their sister just amazes me and makes me cry. They loved her from the minute they found out about her but now that she's here it warms my heart to see how much love they want to shower on her.

I never knew I could love someone else's child like my own....Until my sister gave birth.

I was mega bummed because they wanted to fly solo during his birth...but we respected their wishes....as soon as the green light to come meet him was on I flew...and when I looked into his little eyes...BAM! TOTALLY IN LOVE.

They moved away when Jericho was about six months old.

I am still finding that place to be cool long distance Auntie....we web cam and share photos often.

They are trying to have another one here soon:) So hopefully I came muster up the courage to fly up to Alaska(I am a horrible flyer)when the bun pops outta the over:)

I get like that too. At first I thought it was just with my *own* children, but nope. It was there with my nephew and I'm sure it'll be there when my sister has her first baby next year :o)

This warms the cockles of my heart! My own story is that my then 4 year old boy was getting ready to welcome his new brother into our family. We were talking about the addition to our family and his Dad, he, the bump and I had a group hug. When we let go he lovingly said - "See there is always enough room in a hug for one more - and rubbed my tummy"! No one can prepare you for those unrehearsed moments!! Hormones gave way to tears and a lump in my throat - everything was going to be okay. My two boys absolutely love and adore each other - I'm positive they will be close - always.

Is it amazing to you with every child or just every time you think of this particular child? You know, every spirit is not the same. Maybe she brings with her a different sweetness that you guys don't sense with others.

Congrats...and enjoy!!!

I feel this way about my nieces too! I love them- I call them every day just to hear their little girl voices- I buy them things and mail them so that they have little surprises once in a while from us. My son loves them- he calls them "his babies" and the three of them are thick as thieves, despite living a plane ride apart. They Skype every week and just chat about "life"- at 2 and 3 it's hilarious.

The love you experience for your child and for the babies in your family is overwhelming. I am the oldest of 26 cousins and I love each and every one of them- warts and all. People don't believe me b/c they don't think it's possible to love each of them, but I do! I celebrate their accomplishments and love them when things are rough. When my cousin was killed in an ATV accident several years ago, my heart was broken and a little piece of it missing. They are "my babies" and each of them is amazing!

i love this post!! :)
I know exactly what you mean... me and my sister had our girls 11 days apart, hers came before mine, but when i first saw my niece in the window of the nursery, i cried and sobbed like a baby and instantly fell in love. It stunned me, too, because i was like, 'whoa, if i love this lil girl so much that's my niece, how am i going to feel about my own daughter!?' It's awesome. Even now, at 19months, i look at my little girl every day and cant believe how much i love her!! Can't wait to have my 2nd lil one in Jan. :)
