Has any one worked for them or know anything about them, is it a good business to try working for? what am I looking for a monthly income if I do less than 20 hours a week. I want to work from home and I really dont know if this is the right business. Keep in mind I have no job and live with a very little moeny to support my 2 little ones.

Melaleuca products harmed my family and my home. I don't know how people can tout them as being perfectly safe. In my opinion, people can't see past the dollar sign.

If you would like being a telemarketer, then selling the business is for you. I have friends that do MLM's and I hide from them in the grocery store or ANY place that I see them because I am SICK to death of being solicited.

Melaleuca "claims" to not be an MLM but they are. They just use a clever name to make it "all better".

Hi A.
I cannot describe in words, what Melaleuca has done for my family & I. I'm a single mom & worked 18 years in the Corporate world. I never saw my kids and struggled financially. I decided to try the products first because I had severe eczema. I have not had an eczema breakout in the 8 years that I have been a customer. That is just one of a million reasons why I will shop from this store for the rest of my life. I decided to work the business & there is not enough room on this reply page for me to write in words how that has changed my life. In a nutshell, I am now at home full time with my kids, am debt free (other than my mortgage) and the best thing about what we do, is helping others achieve their goals too.
And btw...it IS true residual income, and it IS a real business that works & it's the most rewarding work I have ever done. Get ALL the information and facts, then YOU decide.

I have no opinion about that company other than, as Ashley says, you may have trouble meeting their quantity requirements. Also, I tried selling for a similar company when I was young and in need, and found I was not a good sales person, and I was afraid after awhile my friends and family would run the other way when they saw me coming with my baskets of samples (which I had to pay for). For me, it was a bust.

One other thing that REALLY bothers me about Melaleuca reps is that they can't hear that the main ingredient in their products, tea tree oil, is potentially harmful if used on and around children. It can cause breast enlargement in young boys, and is suspected of being an androgen disruptor in all young children. (Lavender oil can do this, too.)

These disruptors may well work synergystically with all of the other chemicals in our modern lifestyles, eventually to emerge as one more serious health threat. Hormone disruption can even result in cancers. But when money is concerned, the reps I've talked to would rather ignore this inconvenient potential. Hmm. Money / Children's Safety. Which would you choose?

I'm a melaleuca user but decided against working for them or whatever they call it. My friend who I trust is the one I learned about it from, and like any job, you do have to put in the time. Which is fine. But when she talked about her checks and the payoff, it didn't seem like a very big payoff for how much she put into it. I honestly can't remember any dollar figures, it's been 5 years since I signed up. It seems to me that 20 hours a week isn't going to cut it, but I could be wrong. If you are looking for a full steady paycheck, I would not chance it personally.

One thing that I didn't like, is that you buy leads to make your phone calls. I don't really think buying leads is legit. What that means is that if I saw something about Melaleuca and called in to have someone do a presentation for me, my name goes on a lead list. Then you would buy that lead list, call me and do the presentation to get me to sign up. The inexpensive leads are from sources where it is doubtful the person is actually interested, and those are really tough to get a sale from. The good leads are more expensive, and more likely to generate a new customer, but it is still a sales call and those are not something everyone is good at. Or you can go about it like your local Pampered Chef lady and set up booths and pass out business cards, etc. All that is out of your own pocket though, from my understanding.

I do like the products and if someone asks me about them I give my opinion on what works and what doesn't, and there are several things that I couldn't live without, but I think I will just stick with being a customer. It is a pricey company to buy from, but worth it, I think. But in a recession, it seems like it would be even harder to get people to commit to buying a certain amount each month.

Sorry, I know there are a ton of Melaleuca moms on here always trying to bring new people into it. I don't mean to step on any toes, but those are just my opinions. Good luck with your decision.

Hey there A.,

I've been shopping with Melaleuca since '08 and I will tell you that is has been hands down, best shopping decision I've ever made for my family. My husband used to suffer from very frequent allergy attacks, sometimes a few a day, since we have switched over to Melaleuca's products he has only had 3 allergy attacks in nearly 2 years and they have all been at work!

Since I LOVED the products I too decided to build a business! I'm soooooo glad that I did! I was a SAHM before and things were getting tight. My first goal with the business was to earn around $500 a month to help out my DH and I've been able to do that and the best part is that my income is continuing to grow!

Honestly I was a little nervous to try something new when I first found out about Melaleuca, but the fact that there is no risk, I figured why not try it out. My family needed something to change financially and that fact that this business doesn't require you to buy things you don't need with money that you don't have, it's a simple RISK FREE shopping decision I knew I had nothing to lose. My husband has now coined me "his retirement plan" hehe.

My advice, GO FOR IT! You have Nothing to lose and everything to gain!

My absolute best to your success!

Make it a great day!

Hi Ladies -
I just have to comment on the discussion too!! I've been shopping with Melaleuca for 5 years. I have a 5 and 6 year old, and I decided to shop from an eco-friendly company when they were 6 weeks and 15 months. What a great decision - great prices, safe for the kids, Earth-friendly! Love it!!
I decided to refer customers as well, and that has given me a paycheck every singe month for the last 5 years!! Can't beat that!

I see this has been up for a couple of years. Most likely your questions have been answered. I've recently joined in with the Melaleuca company and have the assistance of a great team behind me. I company is very reputable, been around for years and is completely debt free. The one point about this company is that it is helping the average person out there trying to get ahead in this difficult challenging world. If we would all help each other out then I believe this company could help everyone in some form or other. When it comes down to it...how much do we all need to live a good and comfortable life? With that being said if you want to work hard and be helped by some fantastic people contact me and we'll chat. All the best.

I have been with Melaleuca for 5 yrs now and it really has changed my life. I am a homeschooling mom of 2 children and 1 of them has a disability. This company has allowed me to do her nursing care and also be there for the dr appts. There is nothing else out there that I can do and make the money I do from Melaleuca without having to pay for daycare.

The products are also amazing and will save you some money as well!!

I hope that helps!

I opted against selling it, and just use their products as a customer. I am an AWFUL salesperson. It seems easy enough to sell products that work so well, but the thing is, do you really want to bug people all the time? I thought sales was no big deal until I said I'd help at my husband's company. I started making calls, and after only a few I was completely nervous! I felt like I was bugging them, felt embarrassed when they said no, and loved it when I got voicemail! Some people aren't meant for sales, and it would be unfortunate if you spent all the money on your samples and then found it wasn't for you. Why don't you start out being a customer, then just talk to friends about how much you love it. If you start noticing friends like it, let them try some of your stuff and maybe at some point you'll know enough interested people that it would be worth you working as a rep? Just so you know, I DO have a hard time hitting my minimum points each month. I use ALL of their cleaning products, but since they're all concentrated, it takes a long time to go through their products. Sometimes I have to ask a couple of people if they want to buy anything to help me meet the quota.

Just know that you can put a ton of effort into it and when you decide you're done, you're done. The 'residuals' stop as soon as you quit buying product. It's a Ponzi scheme that makes it necessary for *everyone* to continue to buy products to keep the people at the top propped up. In this sense it *is not* a true business. GL in your decision.

Hi A., I love Melaleuca! I have shopped there for 6 years now. I started as a customer and shopped for four straight years and then decided to do the business myself. My background is in environmental biology, so right away I liked the safer ingredients. Of course, I appreciate that I have a safer home with having two little ones. My son also has sensitive skin and the products have really helped him. I will shop there for life!

After my second child was born I decided to do the business. My son was about to start in a private school and I wanted to pay for that while still staying home with our daughter. It has worked out perfect for us. I can do my business and not have to leave my home or have to hire a babysitter.

Internet Ceo Moms is an awesome and supportive team! The company makes many superior products. Just a great choice all around.

Good luck with your decision!

Hi there!

I've been a Mela member since 1998! I was simply a customer for 2 years. The products helped with excema and loved that they were safe for my kids. Now my fav product is the vitamins..:) Anyway, I did decide to do the business side and as a result I have replaced my outside income. I have been working from home for 10 years now, and I think the best part is being able to help others to achieve their goals...:)

I have been working with Melaleuca for almost 8 years now. I have four kids, homeschool and work part- time (10-20 hrs/week) - completely from home - with the company.

I absolutely LOVE, LOVE their products. I read that someone said tea tree oil is harmful for kids -- I have never had any problems whatsoever. Tea tree oil is a phenomenal first aid ointment and has MANY healing properties.

Melaleuca's products are TOP NOTCH. They are SAFE and work better than the grocery store products. I don't even shop in Wal Mart anymore. I have no problem shopping with Melaleuca. If you truly decide to switch where your shopping, you will not have a problem shopping for your family.

I have many friends that have used their products and found TREMENDOUSLY relief from eczema, asthma and allergies.

The business has produced a wonderful, reliable income for my family. I have received a very nice check every single month for almost 8 years now.

I love that I don't carry inventory, host parties, handle money, take orders, deliver products, etc. I don't do ANY of that. It is a simple, simple business and all of that 'running around' is completely eliminated.

I am able to work totally from home too. The team I work with uses the internet and phone, so we are able to work truly from home. Other people that work with the company do everything face to face and are out of their home quite a bit. I needed to truly work from home - and that is what I've been able to do and be successful with it. Our team has been around for 10+ years, so we've definitely found a way to make it work.

The thing I appreciate about Melaleuca is that there is ZERO RISK. Everything has a money back guarantee and you can cancel anytime.

The company also has a 95% monthly reorder rate. That means that 95% of the customers come back to shop month after month. That means -- reliable income. I personally have a 95% monthly reorder rate in my own business. You will not find that anywhere else.

You have absolutely nothing to lose to try Melaleuca. If you love the products and what the company offers, you will WANT to share it with others.

I am proud to represent this company. I've worked in the corporate world, and based on my experience this company is THE BEST ever -- hands down.

Haha this was a blast from the past for me. When I was in my early 20s my boyfriend started trying to sell Melaleuca products. It didn't last long. I think Melaleuca has as good a reputation as any other product out there, but if you're not a natural sales person then it's not going to be easy for you sell this product. If you're good at sales then maybe you should give it a try. I noticed some other responses mention that tea tree oil can be harmful to children. I don't know if that's true or not so you may want to look into that first. You wouldn't want anyone selling you something that could harm your kids, so I'm sure you don't want to do the same thing to someone else.

This is the most wonderful group of women. Although I have worked for years in many different venues, I have never had such a great team of people to work with! It is real work, you do have to treat it as you would any business you would want to start, but the integrity of the company, the income, and the joy of making a difference in other's lives is so rewarding. There are many who struggle because they are expecting to get money quickly and easily. This is very simple work , but it does require that you give it your heart! Personally, I think you'd be better off finding a part time job that you can go to... All of these home based businesses require you to be out of the house to actually make money. Even if you work part time at the grocery store or Walmart, you'll end up ahead.
YMMV

Hi A.!

I've been with Melaleuca since 2008 and it has been the BEST decision I ever made for myself and my family. It's great because I was able to replace my school nurse income fairly quick and I get to be the mom I want to be for my kids! I don't have to sell anything, stock inventory, do parties or anything like that. The best part is I didn't have to risk anything. Melaleuca has not only helped us to add to our income but because we switched stored and converted our home right away mine and my son's asthma symptoms have been alleviated. I can't tell you when the last time was that either one of us have used a rescue inhaler. Plus, our allergies are not an issue anymore either. My son also had severe eczema and now he has no signs of it. I LOVE the company!

If you're seriously considering this, do it!! You won't be risking anything. You won't be disappointed!

After reading the first three responses I am not sure exactly how to answer. First, and formost, you do not have to buy leads. It is not worth it. I heard the same thing regarding tea tree oil and only found one article and it was inclusive and if it did so was an extremely small fraction of boys. If it is a friend who introduced you, I would go to her with your questions. I have no problem with the points as I have 2 kids at home and between cleaning products, vitamins and bath stuff I spend over 100 points per month. With over 300 products it is very easy to meet the point requirements. And remember you are redirecting money that you would spend at another store to Melaleuca.

I love my Melaleuca products. I also have enjoyed working for the company whose belief is to help others achieve their goals. I never was associated with a corp that supported me with the training like Melaleuca. In addition, I am part of an awesome team. Training and support is second to none.

My inlaws do, but they don't sell the products anymore. They have to order so many points every month, so really if your business isn't going well, you have to keep buying the products yourself if you want the discount that comes with being a representative of the company.

The products are really great, I love them. But from my understanding you have to have parties an such like working for scentsy, mary kay, pampered chef...

I just started working with Melaleuca about 2 months ago, and so far I've loved it. I really like the products and love to share them with people. I had my first son 2 weeks ago, and when I started I was still working a full time job. So, I was 8 and 9 months pregnant and working a full time job, and was still able to earn my first paychecks. They weren't huge right at first, but I see the potential and I am ready to keep going at it to make my income goals. As far as the monthly point requirement, I still haven't had any trouble with it yet, and there's only my husband and me (and now my son), and these are things that I don't have to go to Walmart to buy now, so it's just basically switching stores and to better products. I think Melaleuca is a great way to work from home.
