Well the teen boy is so lazy you will start wondering if he is alive. So to answer when does it stop, around the teen years. Have fun!

Oh, normal by the way.

Normal! My first was about that age when I saw him rapidly scale a playground tower to the top -abput 10 feet! My heart stopped! He's 5 now and still climbs everything and his little brother does too!

Normal beyond belief. Pretty much they never grow out of it, you have to teach them not to do it anymore :D

It is perfectly normal, but be thankful he waited until 17 months. My son walked at 7 months old, and at 9 months old he would push a chair into the kitchen and climb onto the counters to get things from the top cabinets. He would climb onto the back of the couch and then flip off to land on the seat cushions. Once he literally tried to climb the curtains. Made it about half-way up before the rod tore out of the wall. He was more mad than hurt, and then went to go climb up on the couch and flip off some more.

My son is 17 years old now and still crazy active. Thankfully as they get older there are sports to get them involved in, and it really helps redirect that energy into more constructive things.

LOL 100% normal. Depends on the kid as to when it stops. My 4 1/2 year old hardly climbs anything anymore - she started to tone down around 3 1/2. But my almost 2 year old is all over everything! Good luck.

Normal.
As they get older, they get a TON more mobile.
Yes, they climb on everything!
They climb, run, sprint, jump, and everything else you can imagine.

Time to child-proof the house and make things safe.

I have a friend, who's son used to CLIMB the jalousie windows & shelves!
He'd fall down. Then get right back up, and climb it again!
So of course, her jalousie windows, broke. Too.

Boys, are very physical and active and agile.
So, be careful.
They are like Spider Man.
No joke.
I have a boy.

It.does.not.stop.
It gets more active.
As I said, I have a boy.
A normal active physical boy.

Once they find out they can climb, they are all over the place. My daughter is the same way. She walked on her own at 10 months and by 1 yr she was climbing on everything. At 15 months we could not keep her off the table---as cute as it was when she would get up there and start singing. I really hated it when she started climbing on the kitchen counters. Now she still tends to use the table as a seat and will climb to get something when she wants it, whether she is supposed to have it or not of course. But she is not as much of a monkey. I never had a problem with my first 3 except for the couch becoming a trampoline.

my son started climbing by the time he was 10mos old. even on top of the stove and counter tops. he'll be 5 at the end of the month and he still does this. he also stands on his head on the floor leaning against the couch and on top of the couch. he gets on the arms of the furniture and jumps off. it's tiring trying to get him not to do it. but he may be my future gymnast! :)

My kids are 10 & 12 & both started climbing around 10 months. They don't necessarily climb so much anymore, but they do still watch tv upside down with their heads hanging off the couch just as often as not!

100% normal. It will stop when they get tired of it. OR if they find something else new and more interesting.

If you set something they want up high and they see it, they will go after it all the way to adulthood. Put a cookie jar up high with home made chocolate chip cookies in it and they will climb to get to it. If it is always empty, they won't. Its like Pavlov's dog and the bell.

Good luck to you and yours.

Yes normal and this means you need to get your child to the park everyday for some sensory experience. Your child is craving it. If they get it outside, they will be less inclined to do it inside. Make sure you spin him, swing him and turn upside down from your waist too.

Yes and Yes it is normal and as for stopping it nope it doesnt. You have to get proactive in prevention. Get some mats or plush rugs with the no slip mats underneath. Encourage other behaviors and try signing him up for My gym, gymbourie or something like that. That will help. Also, did you know that jumping up and down helps strengthen kids bones? i read that in a parent magazine.

My son is the exact same way, except now he's a little better because he can actually understand the concept of gravity. :-) When he was that age, he always scared me because he loved to climb but didn't know that he should be careful or he'll fall; I had to follow him EVERYWHERE on the playground (thankfully he avoided any major injuries). It became much easier when he learned that he could fall and became more careful. He still climbs and it still scares me, but I don't have to follow him around everywhere anymore (he is six). But I don't think it will ever stop. :-)
