Sorry.
It's dead, Jim.
(Classic Star Trek reference!)
As tasty as it was - it's not worth risking the potential ptomaine/salmonella/botulism.
These things happen from time to time.
ARG! I'm sure it is, but I'll ask anyway. Is the vegan chili I made late yesterday and forgot to put in the fridge because my DS could NOT fall asleep and was driving me crazy to the point I forgot it was still in the UNPLUGGED crockpot waiting to be put in the fridge - is it dead?
Sigh - it was so tasty :(
Oh well. I shall toss it.
Then, apparently, I will Live Long and Prosper (LOL) ;)
Sorry.

I've questioned this type of thing a few times myself when it was a vegan/vegetable situation with no meat or dairy in it. However, always remember the saying, "When in doubt -throw it OUT!" Err on the side of caution and make it again soon. Nothing is worth food poisoning!
When in doubt, throw it out!
It's not worth taking a chance and getting very sick. (I remember having to do just this when my twins were babies and I'd forget to take the food off the stove and put it in the fridge.) Brings back memories.
I agree with the consensus. My son is in the food service industry and he talks about two-hour rules and four-hour rules, and your food goes WAY over. But look at it this way: it give you the opportunity to make your yummy vegan chili again - even better.
Hee, hee :) nice title...cracked me up! I would toss that chili right out the winder! chili is bad enough on the digestive system let along being left out overnight! Make another pot and re-enjoy your kick butt chili.
you unplugged the crockpot? if not - then it should be good....if you didn't and it sat unheated or unrefrigerated - it might be dead....
I personally wouldn't eat something that was left out overnight...but that's ME!!! My husband would!! :) But not me!!
well as with most vegan things...its safe to leave them out for awhile because the chances of food borne illnesses are almost non existent in "fleshless" vegan foods.
its a judgement call.
YUP! pitch it sorry about your loss. I have been in the food service industry and have taken a bunch of the serve safe courses and you do NOT want to get any of the bugs that come with unrefrigerated food. It is very scary. sorry
Sorry,, toss it, not worth the chance of making you sick. Bet it was really good too.
Harry and the Hendersons, right? lol
Don't eat it!
Throw it out just to be safe, sorry!
But if you've ever had it, it's awful.
Not worth the pain and suffering.
Make it again soon! :(
I wouldn't. Our power was off last week and I thought everything was okay. But apparently something wasn't and I became horribly sick this week and chained to the toilet on the prettiest day of the year.
You've got your answer, but thanks for the Trekkie reference! :) Made me smile.
Actually, potatoes and rice are supposed to be just as bad as meats for growing the nasty stuff when left unrefridgerated. Glad you tossed it.
Unfortunately, yes. I wouldn't take any chances.
