My daughter has had a pretty continuous cough for several months it seems to get better and then it gets worst again. Either she seems to get back to back coughs but last night she was coughing quite hard and threw up clear mucous and the coughing subsided for a while. She has had the continous cough ever since she was born but it only seems to be in the winter months. Can the pediatrician do all the allergy test in their office or should i just go see an allergy specialist? My insurance doesnt need referrals.

What can I do next?

You should take her to a specialist. I go to Denver Allergy and Asthma. They specialize in pediatric and adult allergy and asthma. Dr. Rumbyrt is a super doc that will take the best care of your daughter. By the way asthma does not cause permanent lung damage. It is a disease. Most kids outgrow it. I however did not. I have been going to DAA for 12 years now and my asthma is under control better than it ever has been. Hope this helps!

You can have your ped take blood to check allergies, but there result is more on food. This sounds like more environmental allergies, which if your child is possible asthmatic(Mine is). I would go see the allergist. I go to colorado allergy and asthma at the centennial medical plaza on parker and arapahoe are. I would definitely get it checked out, my daughter ended up with pneumonia about a year and a half ago. she is now turning 3 in june.

I'm sorry your little one has had this cough for so long! You should definitely get her in to see an allergy specialist. Asthma is an allergic reaction. You don't want her to have permanent damage to her little lungs. Asthma can be caused by other triggers too, but you should be able to have her tested and avoid or get injections to overcome any allergies she may have that are triggering it.

Good luck and I hope that you can get her lungs healthy soon.

Sounds like allergies. National Jewish is great for that. I know it'd be a haul, but we like our doctors there because they try to use as little medicine as possible and find other ways to treat. I hope she gets better soon!
