I love my current pediatrician, however, the drive is me...I was wondering if anyone could give me their thoughts/opinions on either Dr. Das (Lake Orion) or Dr. Wissmann (Oxford). Thank you in advance!

What can I do next?

I don't know how he is as a physician, but I know Dr. Das personally (friends of the family) and he's a wonderful, caring man. Typically, if that's how a person is outside of their job, it carries over to what they do for a living.

I live in Oxford and use SG pediatrics in the beaumont Building....I normally would like american DR but they are WONDERFULL!! They guarantee same day sick appt. I worked at HealthFirst for YEARS and would have to say that most of the HMO patients we would see used Dr Das and we NEVER had any problems with getting info from them (that info might help you) but I HIGHLY recommend SG Pediatrics I see all three Dr for my daughter who will be 2 and I am due in July and will use them for the new baby also. Good Luck!! There phone number is....###-###-#### if your interested. What I like the BEST about them is when you call with a question the Dr ALWAYS calls you back herself and will talk you through any questions and they do not make you come in for everything. They also have health Dept vaccines so if your ins dues not cover them you do not have to pay...

Hi there. All four of us see Dr. Wissman...my husband and I and my two little ones. They are a family practice which makes things very easy for us. The PA there, Kristy Jacobs, is awesome too. We love it there! Hope that this helps a bit. Good luck! -Jen Green

I have been going to Dr. Das for both of my kids (5yo son, 3yo daughter) since they were born. My husband actually chose him because he really appreciated his experience and not overreacting. I feel like he steers us toward having allergies way too much but he may be right, so I try not to judge (it is hard to see straight when it is your own situation).

The Dr.'s office is nice but the wait is too much. I usually arrive first thing in the morning to make up for this whenever I can. Still, it utterly depends on things I cannot see.

I plan to continue the kids at this dr. office until I feel they can attend a family physician office without concern.

I see from another respondant that Dr. Wissman's office has Kristy Jacobs there. She used to work for Dr. Das and she is just terrific. It sounds like you'll be fine no matter your choice.

My daughter is almost 3 and we have been going to Dr. Wissman's office since she was six months. Dr. Wissman is great, but hard to get in to see. Kristy Jacobs, the physician's assistant is very good too and that is who we usually see. I do not believe they are taking any new patients right now, but we were in the office last week and heard that they have a new nurse practioner starting July 1st and will probably start accepting new patients then. If you can wait, I would definitely recommend their office. The staff is very nice and we usually do not have to wait long. They also just moved to the new Crittenton Building downtown Oxford, so the office is very clean.
