Ipad, Tablets, Respective carriers--Recommnedations? (Im Not Tech Savvy)

I am going to get my first tablet. I will probably get an IPad unless you recommend a different one like the galaxy.

I want to go online so I will have a Wi-Fi. I want a camera and I want to be able to enjoy apps and listen to music, I guess and even read books. If I enjoy it so much, I will probably cave and get a data plan with either ATT or Verizon. I am a SAHM and I don't even text right now because I use my home computer for everything.

So, first question: IPad or Galaxy? Then they make them for certain carriers. ATT or Verizon or TMO?

And lastly, for those that have IPads or Galaxy's--do you thoroughly enjoy them?

I have the old fashioned phone, the one you make for cell calls only. I may end up getting an Iphone or Droid later, but I thought I would enjoy a tablet more. Any thoughts on that...Like if you ONLY had one or the other, which would it be and why?

I think it would help me be more efficient with communications, scheduling, shopping and you know, all the elements of running a home and family most effectively. Thanks!

(I forget the name of it, but I will get some kind of device that lets me plug in to the hotspot so I could use it when I'm out. I was thinking about getting the Ipad or Galaxy that is made for a carrier so I could eventually switch to a dataplan if I wanted to use it all the time, like a phone.)

What can I do next?

I asked my dad if he would like a tablet for Christmas but he says his Droid phone is just as good.... so I'd say get the iPhone or an android phone and you have the ability to do everything a tablet does and in a smaller, easier to carry package.

We have the WiFi only Ipad2. It was a gift for my 4.5 yr old from her grandparents. It is amazing. I'm not exaggerating when i say we took out the box, i downloaded itunes and handed it to her. It is very user friendly, which you may like. I do not use it as much, it is mainly a gaming pad that we take on trips, restaurants, doctor appt, etc. Anywhere that there is a wait and she may need to be entertained. But there are so many features im sure you will use. We did get the 64gb because we wanted to have as much space on there to download her fav movies(handy when we are on a plane in 2 wks). I knew i would never pay extra for wifi anywhere but get it if you already know you may get a plan in the future. Our sales guy was pretty honest about how "anywhere" is not exactly that and they are still working on the kinks. Most restaurants, airports, kids places, etc offer free wifi anyway.
I have heard good things about the HP touchpad that is limited right now. And also the Kindle Fire. But having an Ipad i can tell you im very happy and will never buy anything else :)

I have a WiFi only iPad and love it! I didn't get the 3G access because I mainly use it at home or take it when traveling to use at the hotel. My 5 year old son also uses it, so it's been a great purchase for us.

If you have wi fi you need to consider do you actually need broadband? In other words do you actually need it to function everywhere? If you really only see using it at your home or perhaps a Panera then you could save yourself a fortune and get the Kindle Fire.

I have a netbook with broadband and I only use the broadband at work. Really not worth the monthly costs.
