I have never purchased any kind of computer games for my kids. They are not very interested in their Wii. They have some hand-me-down Leapsters but they struggle with working the games and the stylus doesn't always work so they get frustrated. I was looking at the Innotab 2 for Christmas but I don't know if I need to buy a bunch of cartridges for it or if it already comes with some. I am not looking forward to having a bunch of cartridges laying around for me to step on...Any thoughts you have are appreciated...p.s. my kids are 4 and 3.

What can I do next?

If they are having a difficult time with them or are uninterested, maybe you should wait and do something more traditional for their ages...

Books, blocks, puzzles, games, ride on type toys, paint, etc?

I can assure you, there are plenty of Christmases for electronics down the road. My youngest isn't even a teen yet (she's 11) and I am almost out of electronics to buy. She wants a Nook this year, even though we already have 2 Kindles in the house. She has an ipod (touch) and a laptop. Has had a DS for several years now. Wii, PS3. About the only thing left is a cell phone. And we are waiting on that as Loooooong as we can.

I think that it's great that they are not yet interested. There's no rush. My kids had no computer, nintendo or Wii until about 3-4 years ago. Now they have it all. Slow it down - I'm glad I waited.

My daughter got the first one for last Christmas and has played with it only three times. She played with her Leapster even less. Somehow in our family the electronic games have a very short shelf life!

I have a Nook Color and have downloaded some games for my two boys (3 1/2 and 6). They think it's fun once in awhile. We also have a Pocket V-Smile (handheld) that they like and play occasionally. My 6 year old begged us for a DS. We bought a used one for Christmas. He only used it a handful of times before leaving it out in the rain.

For the most part at that age, electronics are fun for a few days and only for 20 minutes to an hour at a time. Then they forget about them for a few months.

I guess I really like the flexibility of my Nook, because it's my Nook. I use it all the time and get my money's worth out of it. My kids use it once in awhile, and it's nice to have that option. But if that were the only thing it ever got used for, it would have been a huge waste of money.

I don't know anything about the Innotab. I've actually been checking back with your post in the hopes that I would learn something about it. I'm with you, though. I'd really rather not have to deal with cartridges. The games on my Nook were all downloaded. That is something I can handle much more easily than cartridges.
