I'm looking for information on various school districts in the DFW area on what the start dates are for school this year. I'm currently working on a kid's summer camp and I want to ensure that kids will be able to participate.

State law does not allow schools to start before the 3rd Monday in August, so that is the day most schools starts.
I think most public schools will be starting 08/25. We're in Lewisville and that's our start date, and I know McKinney starts that day as well.
Wylie ISD is 8/25 also.
They passed a bill/law - whatever (sorry, it is very early) which began this current school year that statewide public schools cannot begin BEFORE the 4th Monday of August, so that is why this year most all schools begin on the same date - the 25th. It was ridiculous how early they were beginning to start the "fall" semester.

By Texas law -- implemented for the first time for the 2007-2008 school year -- schools cannot start any earlier than the last week of August. So essentially, no school in the area can start earlier than August 25, which is definitely the case for the McKinney ISD.
We live in Allen, and yes, we do start August 25th as well.....

You can put in the school dist. you are looking for on your computer and get that info. Be sure to type in 2008-2009
Mckinney ISD, kids start Aug 25th
Most schools will start near the same time do to mandated later start times with no appeals. Frisco ISD starts Aug 25th next fall. Ours is on-line on our web page. You may be able to find other districts calendars are posted on theirs as well. Good luck!
Plano ISD starts on Monday 8/25. I believe Allen does as well.
