Infantino Vs. Ergo Carrier

Ergo! Had the Baby Bjorn Active with my first two. Ergo gives me no backpain or neck/shoulder pain. Yes, pricey but worth the money. Try to find it used at a children's resale store like Children's Orchard. If they don't have one in the store, they can put you on a waitlist and when the item comes in, they'll call you. Good luck!

The Ergo baby carrier is by far the BEST carrier on the market. You can use it for infants (you have to buy the infant insert) all the way up to children weighing 35 pounds. It is the only thing I buy my friends who are expecting, and I never leave home without it. My child is so comfortable in it, usually falls asleep within minutes. Also, studies show that babies/children carried facing their parent/caregiver have much more self esteem as they are not facing outward to a scary new world. Plus, you can wear baby on the front, side or the back, as the child gets older. I absolutely LOVE Ergo baby, had other carriers, infantino, baby bjorn, nothing compares.

I don't know anything about the Infantino, but I do have an Ergo and love it. You can hold the baby in many different positions, front, back, hip and will accommodate even a toddler. It also has great back support. It is pricey, but I think it is worth it in the end.

Sorry, I actually tried out the Ergo, the Baby Hawk, and the Beco, and I really preferred the Beco. The Ergo was fine, and is certainly the best known carrier, but it didn't fit my torso nearly so nicely (I am tall, though). I really recommend thebabywearer.org, which has comparisons of all of the different carriers. I also recommend http://www.frogmama.com/ The woman who runs it will answer your questions, has different video comparisons of the different carriers, and has a really great return policy. Ergo is the way to go. If price is an issue, consider looking on craigslist, ebay, baby resell stores......some may be used, but they're washable.....

The ergo is worth every penny and can hold up to 35 lbs! I still hold my 2 year in the backpack for quick stops to the store. The infantino is awful... i had it- ruined my back- the ergo places the weight on the hips no matter how heavy your child is- you will never feel it!!!!

I have had both types of carriers, and by far I recomend the ergo baby. It has a shade/ support for the babies head. It can be worn both front, back and as a sling. And my favorite you can barley feel the weight of the child on you. And so far that is said for even a 45 lbs child (my 4 y/o). So it may be expensive but it is well worth it!

ERGO all the way. We also purchased the infant insert for when our 2nd was a newborn. It was great! He was a big baby (9#2oz.) and has always been at the top of the charts. We used it till he was about 2 years old. Then he preferred to walk everywhere.........

If you check out ebay, the resale value on them is GREAT! So she can always resell and get most of her money back when she's done!

We are actually considering buying another ERGO to use in the barn when I'm doing chores..... (I'm pregnant with our 3rd.) They are THAT GOOD!

I had a mai tei for the first year of my son's life, but it got a little small, so I bought an Ergo. Even though it is a bit pricy, it is so worth it, and it lasts for a very long time. I don't think the Infantino goes nearly as long, and it's always nice to be able to carry your child on a hike, or when traveling (the Ergo is perfect for the airport). The Ergo also has really great support and holds the weight on your hips rather than shoulders, so it is comfortable.

The Ergo was my number one most used baby/toddler product! I could not have survived without it. I used it until my son was three. It takes so much of the weight off of your shoulders and moves it to your hips. It allowed me to do so many things with two hands while still holding my son and not breaking my back! We also used it for tons of hikes and other outings. It allowed us to have naps on the go so that we weren't always tied to a crib.
I tried five different carriers before I bought the Ergo - all cheaper. I wish I had just paid the price for the pricier Ergo first. It would have saved me a lot of money! If you end up using the Ergo like I did, it is well worth the price!

I was given an Infantino carrier as a gift. Really uncomfortable with very little support. I stopped using it very early on, and bought a different carrier. You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to carriers.

I have used both. The infantino euro rider and the ergo.
The infantino was great when my daughter was very little (newborn to maybe 4-5 months) after that she just got too heavy for me, but my husband continued using it for a while.
I got the ergo when she was about 6 months - OH MY GOSH what a difference! I LOVED it, she loved it... she is 2.5 now and as a matter of fact I carried her home from the playground in the Ergo this morning, when she got too tired to walk. It was well worth the investment.
If I had to decide for only one, I would definitely pick the Ergo. Personally I liked having both, and you can get a used infantino for about 10 bucks...

I loved my ERGO. My daughter was extremely colicy, fussy, never wanted to be set down for months... and this was my LIFESAVER! my back hardly hurt, even after hours of her in it, and she is a big, heavy girl!

I have an Ergo and LOVE it! I've used the sling before and didn't like it at all. You can get a newborn insert for the Ergo. It's awesome!

I've had several types of carriers - the Baby Bjorn Active (OK until baby hit 20lbs, very hot in summer), the Baby Bjorn Air (cool for summer but no back support and too expensive), the Infantino sling (recently recalled because of danger of suffocation), the Infantino hip carrier from Target (ouch..) and, after all these failed to ease my back pain, I discovered my all-time favorite Ergo.

The Ergo allowed me to carry my baby for hours at a time very comfortably, let him nap and nurse in privacy. Can't say enough good things about it, I used it while doing housework, running errands, grocery shopping, and while traveling, far more than my stroller actually.

Another great thing about it is that it can be easily adapted for use with any body type - your hubby won't be embarassed to use it either!

I bought mine years ago when it was popular mostly among hikers but now it's become very mainstream. Buy Buy Baby sells a wide assortment of colors and inserts for use with newborns - 5 month olds. Amazon also sells both, with free shipping.

i like the bjorn w/ the large back. just to throw something else at you. try them on in the store w/ a big heavy can of formula in there, you'll get an idea of what will be more comfortable. and honestly, even if they say they carry up to 30 lbs you are not going to be carrying a baby that big on your chest. they are too active, and that is when they move to a stroller or back pack. by 4 mos I was done. Plus, keep in mind, in the summer, when it is hot, you may not want another hot body on you.

I can't give a comparison of the two, but I do own an Ergo. I love it!!! The biggest thing I can attest to is the the cost. I thought it was ridiculous, but got one as a gift. I am still using it with my 16 month old. We went to a baseball game the other night. I used it on my back on the way in then on the front later in the evening was he was sleepy and ready to snuggy down!! A couple tips though... I wish I would had not gotten mine in black. I figured it would be best for hiding dirt... but on warm days in the sun... it gets hot!!! I also want a belt expander so my husband could use it. I think the belt around the waist is intentionally made a little short so there isn't a lot of slack to deal with. If you have a skinny husband you won't need it.

I have also tried both (with two kids) and agree with one of the other responses that the sling was better for me when the babies were really little. I had the infant insert for the Ergo, but could never really figure how to use it in a way that comfortable for both me and baby so I put the Ergo aside until they were 5/6 months. That said, once they are old enough for the Ergo, there is no better product out there! It is a little pricey but worth it. Good luck!

We have both the ergo and the bjorn with the extra back support. I like the ergo better, my husband prefers the bjorn. We only had the bjorn with the first and my husband could carry him in it until he was 18 mo. (He walked late and was very skinny because he was a preemie). I really like the sun shade/sleeping head support on the ergo. I tried my 3 year old (who still weighs less than 30 lbs) in the backpack position the other day and I was still able to carry him comfortably. The ergo can last years longer than other carriers, but like someone mentioned, you can only have the baby facing you. I don't know how my baby will like that as he gets older.

BabyHawk all the way. Ergo is great too BUT if one of the clips breaks your up a creek.

Recently I was at the airport wearing my son in my BabyHawk and we were going through security. The lady 2 isles over had her child in an Ergo and she had to take him out and put the ergo through the scanner because of the clips. I got to walk straight through with my son on me in the BabyHawk because it is all fabric!

Combine that with the beautiful fabrics and the fact that you can design your own - they are fabulous!

I also love my MOBY wrap.

DO NOT go Infantino. They just finally had a massive recall on their slings because of infant deaths. I teach babywearing and have said for YEARS they were dangerous. That the Lord they were pulled!

Love my Ergo. My (petite) son is 3 years old and I still use it to carry him when he's napping and I'm out and about. So much easier on my back, and I just feel it puts baby in a more natural carrying position. When he was younger, compared to a carrier such as the Baby Bjorn, I could hardly feel the weight of my child when using the Ergo.

While I've never used the Infantino, I don't think the Infantino can even be compared to the Ergo. The Ergo will last a long time and I feel it's worth the investment. It was for me, and I'll be very sad when my son outgrows it :(

I have not used an infantino. But you can not go wrong with an Ergo. They are worth every penny. She could buy one used if she doesn't want to pay full price.

I have to mention that the child can not sit facing forward in the Ergo. Other than that it's great. There are some newer carriers with the same back support (for adult AND child) that allow baby to sit facing out. Gotta run.

I LOVE my Ergo. I was even able to wear it with my 32 lb son while 7.5 months pregnant! I'm not sure why that person couldn't wear her's through airport security, but I have never had to take mine off and have flown numerous times with it. I also have a bad back, and have the carrier that my mom used with me and a baby bjorn. I liked the one that my mom used with me, but all the weight was on the shoulders and it only worked while he was tiny, plus he woke up if I had to put him in the car, etc. The baby bjorn, he screamed in the moment I put him in it. I tried many, and have used slings too, but again weight on the shoulders, etc. I won the Ergo at a breastfeeding celebration, and have never looked back!!

Ergo all the way! I have tried tons of carriers and both my husband and I love the Ergo. My son is 3 and he can still fit in it! Get it in a neutral color and hubby will also be carrying the LO around. It's so comfortable that I carried my son until I was over 5 months pregnant with my daughter with no problems. Until she started kicking him!
