Infant with Phlem in Throat

My little one started having that raspy breathing about 2 days ago. No fever or change in attitude, she just seems to have phlem in her throat. Any moms have any idea on how to get it out? I do have a bulb syringe (booger sucker) just nervous about using it.

What can I do next?

From my experience, using the bulb is the best way to get that stuff out. Sometimes it is because the bulb worked, and sometimes it is because they cry so hard when you use the bulb that it knocks the phlem loose.

go in your smallest bathroom with a tub, (so it gets steamy faster) and close the door and turn on the hot water full blast and sit in the steam for 10-15 minutes. This should get some quick relief.

lots of fluids, avoid the milk, and us a humidifier, also Johnson and johnson as whaat they call Vapor bath, goes in when they bath, helps to open them up... I have a son with Asthma and when he goes there, that is what i start out doing

Hi Shelley, I'm a first time mom to a 5 month old too with the same cold. The bulb syringe is your best friend. Make sure you use it with saline. Don't use the bulb by itself. You can't get the phlem I'm her throat but you can get what does get into her nose which will help her breath and eat better. Good luck.
