Infant's Funny Sounds

My 3wk. old makes noises like she is having a bowl movement and stretching at the same time. Most of the time there is no boo-boo. Should I be concerned? The other thing is, when it's time to burp, she acts as if she is having a hard time getting the burp out. Does anyone out there know what I'm talking about? Please come forward.

Concerned mom.

So What Happened?

I would like to thank every thoughtful mom for your advice and comforting words. Your words brought peace to my mind. We as mothers have an extra concern when they are so young and learning their cries and funny sounds and noises. Nothing like hearing from "The Experienced!" I don't see an option to send you guys a flower (as a group) so I send you a flower from my heart...Thank you so much!!!

SOunds totally normal!!
To help my son burp (very hard burper) i would pat his back in a circular motion, and then tap upwards seemed to be the trick for him. But every baby is different so you just gotta find the motion that helps her burp.

It's cute and normal. My 2 month old still makes lots of noises. Try changing the baby's position when she seems like she's having a hard time with a burp.
If she's trying to pass gas / poop and struggling a little just lie her on her back and push her knees up towards her chest, it'll help her go.
The noises are just normal parts of being an infant. Enjoy them because they don't last long!
Congratulations!!

Some babies are just noisy. My little girl made all kind of sounds. She might be gassy, try giving her some Mylecon drops. Hope this helps

Sounds CUTE. And normal. Ask everyone you know to show them their burp techniques because you will need every arrow in the quiver. Have fun.

Sounds normal. To help her burp try placing her over you knees or shoulder and press very firmly from bottom to top, pushing the burp up. Once I learned this my daughter was much more comfortable. She didn't really burp by patting. Good luck and enjoy her.

Ok, so both of my babies did this all night long and it drove me crazy. When you just want to sleep, it is not cute! I want you to know that they both grew out of it by the time they were 3-4 months. Thank goodness. Another thing to maybe research or talk to your doctor about is reflux. My daughter had silent reflux which is where the spit up comes up but they don't spit it out and it made her very uncomfortable.

When I brought my baby home, I had her in the bedroom with me. Her little sounds kept me awake, so after 3 nights, I put her in her own bedroom and we both slept just fine. Your baby sounds perfectly normal. If she isn't crying with her grunting, she's not in pain.
