I want to have my daughter's (6 months old) ears pierced, and would like to see if any of you momma's have a good place in mind that have experience with infants? I took my oldest daughter (now 2 years old) to Claire's in a mall (not here in IL), the manager that pierced them had tons of experience with babies and did a wonderful job and we have never had any problems with her piercings. I've been debating on just taking my other daughter to a Claire's too....but want to check out all my option first.

What can I do next?

We went to Claire's at the Harlem Irving Plaza, the manager does the children. We had a good experience.

Hi. I took my daughter to Claires in Yorktown about 3 weeks ago. She is almost two, but the girl that did her ears was very gentle and took her time, even though there were several other girls waiting for their turn. My husband had wanted me to have our Ped. do it (when he finally agreed to have them pierced), but the Ped. cost twice as much and I agree with the earlier post, that since Claire's does so much business, the probably do have more experience. BTW - we haven't had any problems with her earrings so far.

Hi V.,

My daughter is now 9 months and I took her to Claire's at the mall just before she turned 5 months. I have not regretted my decision. They were absolutely great. The people at Claire's do piercings so often and so regularly, that I would probably trust them more than the pediatrician - just because of the volume of people that go through there - hence more experience.

By the way, be prepared to get some severe spam in response to your posting. I asked this same question a few months ago. I just asked WHERE to go and not WHETHER I should go or not... I got some totally unwanted and rude responses about how I was harming my daughter etc etc. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but they should give it only when asked for. Just ignore it and do what you want!

Good luck. Hope you find what your are looking for.

Hi,

We went to Claires at Woodfield. They did a really good job and we had no problems with her ears afterwards. It was a good experience.

I pierced my daughter's ears when she was 9 weeks old and I took her to Claire's also. I couldn't find anywhere else that would do them. My ped told me to check out hispanic neighborhoods but I still couldn't find anywhere. She's doing great and we've never had a problem with her ears.

I also heard Pagoda does a good job. I don't personally think the ear piercing is wrong - in my grandmother's family they would pierce the baby's ears when they were born as a superstitious thing to make the baby "imperfect." I wanted to do ear piercing so badly on my daughter just as a family custom, when she was very little and my husband adamantly fought this one and won. Good luck taking her. She'll look adorable and enjoy all the adorable pictures she'll take with those shiny little studs!!
