In 2012, How much is reasonable to pay for infant daycare in Southern Illinois? In home daycare for 6 weeks to 12 months? The lady would only have 2 children she would watch?

What can I do next?

Several in home daycare providers charge $70 a day for infants where we live. It depends on where you live. I would call around to some in home daycares in your area and ask how much they would charge for infants. This way you get a feel for what the norm is where you live.

14 yrs ago in Northern Virginia - it was $165 per week in a commercial daycare center.
That was for an annual contract.
It was higher if you went month to month.

I'm in mid-MO. A fairly rural area, just 1 1/2 hours out of St Louis.

The norm for in-home daycare/infant: $90-125/week. (St Louis runs $125 & up)

It's close to $400 a week at centers more up north, in Illinois. In home somewhat less. Varies.
It's $70 a week for 2 hours a day for my 6-year-old, after school at a center.

I pay $155.00 a week. But that is super dirt cheap.

I would guess $175-250 a week.

Call the local child care centers and ask them. You can say you're considering returning to work and want to see if the budget would work.

In Oklahoma we have a STAR program. The more STARs the better their program is rated.

Even the 3 STAR centers only get about $30 per day for 10-12 hours of care. That is a normal time to be there.
