Hi Moms,
My husband and I spend a fortune on healthcare premiums (self-employed) but do not have dental insurance. We haven't gone to the dentist in awhile and I'm scared to go and find out we need lots of things done. Is there anywhere to go that offers reasonably priced dental care that's good? We're in the north side/Evanston area though would be willing to travel a bit if there's something great elsewhere. Anyone have a dentist they love that's reasonable or know of a good dental school etc. that offers reduced pricing? Trying to make good dental care affordable and wondering if that's even possible. Thanks!

Years ago a friend of mine went to the UIC dental school at the circle campus near downtown and the pricing was a lot lower than what I paid at the time with my insurance. She had a LOT of work done and she thought they did a great job. Of course, the person would be different but worth a call.

Where I live there is a dental office through the hospital and they charge a set amount per visit based on your income. I'd try calling your local hospital and see if they have anything like that.

Try Dental schools. Try Ameriplan. They take monthly payments, it is not insurance, but reduced payment, you do have to pay right out usually but it is so much less than regular. Try Sam's Club, they have plans similar to this. And keep searching for someone who would take payments. It is really terribly hard isn't it?

Hi N., my hubby and I are biz owners so we understand! Check out Aflac in your area. My hubby sells it. You still have to pay the dentist, but aflac will pay you cash directly for the proceedure you had done. But of course, there is waiting periods like all insurane so SIGN UP NOW!!!! Also, not sure if you have Western Dental, but they do the work and if you have to have a bunch of costly things done, you can make payments. Hope this helps...good luck!!!
