Anyone out there know where to get chocolate truffles for less that $1.00 per chocolate? My sisters wedding is in September and we need atleast $400 truffles? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

So What Happened?

Thanks for the suggestions. I did mention that to my sister - but she really wants ones that look super gourmet. I'll bring it up again to see what she thinks. Thanks!

Truffles are actually very inexpensive and easy to make, as long as you have the time to do it. Or are you looking for something fancy with words or candy coating? The basic truffle, just chocolate ball dusted with cocoa, is very simple. Even coated with chocolate bark is easy. Take a weekend day and test it out. Look up recipes online. I would even take the job if needed. Let me know what you think! ____@____.com

you could make them.

MILK CHOCOLATE TRUFFLES

9 oz. chocolate chips
2 tbsp. unsalted butter
1/3 c. heavy cream
1 c. unsweetened cocoa

In a double boiler, melt chips and butter. Add cream and stir until smooth and satin like. Cover and refrigerate until set, about 6 hours.

Place cocoa in a bowl and set aside.

To make truffles, scoop a teaspoon of chocolate mixture. Form ball with your hands and then roll in cocoa. Store in airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Makes 20.

You can try to make them yourself. They are not hard - but it would be time consuming to make so many. You could have a truffle making party. A recent (in the past year) isssue of Bon Appetit had a recipe. You can probably get it on www.epicurious.com

Try www.etsy.com and click on the plants and edibles section along the lower left side. There are chocolatiers that list their wares there, and if you can't find truffles, you can make special requests. Who knows, your sister might even find something ELSE she likes on the site. Good luck!

Lindt truffles have always been my favorite and they're not that expensive either (about 30 cents each). They come individually wrapped too, if theyre going to be favors.

I've also heard great things about Swiss Colony chocolate, although I havent tried them for myself. Here's the link to their truffles - 50 cents each. Their pretty plain though - not sure how ornate you want the truffles to present.

There is a chocolate candy maker here in Rochester right on Main Street. It is Morley's at 436 Main Street. The phone number is ###-###-####. You might want to give them a call to see what they charge. Being that you are looking to buy a large quantity, they may give you a good price. Good Luck in your search. J. T.
