We had a good experience at Great Wolf Lodge as other have recommended. Also, there is one called Rocking Horse Ranch which is upstate. Near the catskills. Good luck and have fun!
I have been researching indoor waterparks, and hope to visit one over the April Easter break. My family is driving from Upstate NY to NC. I have researched the Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmony, PA, near Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. I priced a one night stay at the resort and the price was $550 for the hotel and indoor waterpark. I can't see spending that much money on one night/day of entertainment . We are considering staying at a different hotel and then paying $39 per person to visit the waterpark. First I was wondering if anyone has gone to the resort, and what they thought of it. Second, is there a hotel in the area that you would recommend staying at in the area. We will mainly just need a place to sleep since we won't be there much. I would like to keep it under $100. Thanks for your help!

If I did one I would go to Great Wolf. I researched indoor parks in PA and read horrible reviews at Split Rock there, from the cleanliness to the wait time for the room to the staff and to the park. Go to trip adisor online and read the reviews carefully. I know you can still have a good experience, but out of hundreds of reviews, the balance of high to low scores was balanced throughout. That's not good enough for me when I'll be paying so much. Good luck either way!
I love Great Wolf but very expensive. But April they had some great specials...not sure if they are still going. We are actually going in April due to the specials. Standard rooms are very very large and the park is very clean and they have this wonderful game that they turn on at night for the kids called magicquest...you have to purchase wands. We try and go every year. Story time in the lobby in front of large fireplace, a show each evening. The other options are the coco key resorts. I have been to the one in waterbury twice. I will only go during a weekday...the weekend was very crowded. I think the fact that Great wolf does NOT sell day passes helps them to know exactly how many people to expect...they know their capacity (in regards to how many rooms are filled) and can accomodate. Good Luck!
I have done Great Wolf many times. I love it but it really is expensive. The hotel room, the resort fee, and taxes add up fast.
If you can find any indoor water park that lets you buy day passes, go for it. That is a great deal. You also pay top dollar for food there so maybe pack a cooler. Plus, if it is like Great Wolf, they also sell toys, glitter tatoos, hair braiding, and a ton of other stuff. Prepare your kids ahead of time to keep walking.
I would suggest Great Wolf Lodge
Hi M.,
You should check out Great Wolf Lodge, which is not too far away from Split Rock. Great Wolf Lodge has much nicer rooms and their waterpark is phenomenol. Split Rock is an old hotel and my son went with his dad and told me it was a little dirty.
We had a really positive experience at Split Rock with four other families in January. The water park is great and much smaller than a Great Wolf type place. We really appreciated that bc we could always see the little ones and let the older ones go on their own. We stayed in a two bedroom suite with a full kitchen. It was dated but great accommodations for our family. We could put the kids to bed and relax in the family room. We brought breakfast and snacks. The entire resort was very clean. The kids loved the sports, bowling and arcade. The food was not great but hotel food usually isn't.
Theres a pretty new water park right Upstate, ny. It's in lake george. I heard it's great and reasonable. if you stay in the lodge it includes admission to the park and breakfast. I think it's called Splash down, google water park lake George,ny. have fun!!
