Looking for covered or indoor parks/playscapes for rainy weather and active kids. South Austin preferred, but suggested for in and around Austin will be taken. Will go anywhere to wear out these kids some days.

We've been to Goin' Bananas, and the kids really like it. They also really enjoy (on rainy days) going to Cabella's in Buda, looking around a the animals, and getting food to feed the fish in the coy pond.

Someone mentioned the playscape at ToysRUs at Lamar and 360. Apparently they had problems with it, and they have taken it down.

Every Chik-fil-A has an indoor playplace. Toys R Us near Lakeline Mall has a play structure that the kids can play on for free.

There are several indoor bounce house places in the area. I like Extreme Fun off of 183 and Anderson Mill in NW Austin. They have a website, just google Extreme Fun.

Also, look into YMCA in your area. They usually have an indoor pool for not a ton of money.

The ones we go to have been covered already. But we also go to story time at Pleasant Hill library on W. Cannon and Circle S. Tuesdays at 10:15 is toddler story time, at 11:15 is pre-school. (Double check times on line for pre-school.) After story time, my two year old likes to look at the books, then we play outside with other kids. There is a large open area that the kids have taken to.

We sometimes like to go to Goin' Bananas on Manchaca, south of Slaughter. It's a inflateable place. Check out the website for specials, hours and prices.

Toys R Us on Capital of Texas/S. Lamar has pretty good playscape. Children's Museum is always fun.

My kids are past this age, but I hear "Goin Bananas" located behind Cafe 1626 is fun. It is on south Manchaca Road. Westgate Lanes offer "bumpers" in the gutters, so little ones can be sure of a pin drop. It is located at the corner of Westgate and Wm. Cannon. My kids loved this. The "Y" in Oakhill has a gym and offers swimming lessons all year around. I wasn't a member when my kids had lessons there. Also, Dittmar Recreation Center (run by Austin Parks and Rec.)offers all kind of affordable programs for little ones all year too. Good luck!

The Hoppin' House in Lakeway is great. It has several bounce house-type play structures, including one that is a ball pit, and a big pit full of foam blocks. A couple are good for younger kids, too. My 2 1/2 year old had a great time, even on the big slides (with me!). It's only $5 per kid for the whole day because you can get a wristband so you can leave and come back. They also have a cafe-type area where you can have snacks, which they have available to buy, or you can bring your own. There is also a little room with a big table for birthday parties. It's on 620 south by the Randall's at Lohman's Crossing--enter the driveway for the Valero gas station and Chicken Express, and go in between them to the back.

Goin' Bananas on Manchaca is great for rainy weather. They have bouncy houses and small play areas for the little ones. Cost is around $7 per child, adults free.

Goin' Bananas in S. Austin/Manchaca area. On Manchaca road is a indoor inflatable place. Had my 5 year olds b-day party there and they loved it! Google on indoor playnasium austin texas and you get Radi Jazz in North Austin and Goin' Bananas in south.
