HELP! Cold and rainy today. Any ideas for a fun activity indoors with a meal afterwards in the Layton/ Davis county area of Utah? We were planning on miniature golf but I'm afraid we may be rained out.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

The weather cleared up and we ended up going to Swan Lakes miniature golf as we had planned, but I got some great input for future outings. Many Thanks.

Hey, you need to check this out: www.utahkidsclub.com They get $2 bounce house, skating, rock climbing, mini golf, bowlning--deals at classic fun center in layton, fat cats, ogden dino park, cherry hill....plus, you'll see when all the free puppet shows/magic shows are.

very fun and informative

Great question! Last fall I moved to South Davis County from a perennially sunny part of the country. Whew, it was a long winter with my kids! There seemed to be lots of active indoor activities in either SLC or Layton/Ogden, but not much in the middle. I found myself going to McDonalds two days/week so they could play on the play structure. And spending $10-18/visit on fast food! That's desperate, in my opinion!

I was thrilled when Kangaroo Zoo opened in early April in NSL (they already had a Pleasant Grove location). We held a birthday party there with kids from 14 to 1 and everyone had a great time. We have been back several times since. Oh, and they even have indoor, glow-in-the-dark miniature golf! See KangarooZoo.net.

Hi D.,
I have not been to the aquarium here but my kids and I went to the one in CA on a regular basis. They loved it. I hear the aquarium in SL is great. We also do a lot of painting, go to michaels or hobby lobby, they have nice sets of paintbrushes that are inexpensive and come in a canvas folding carry case and the brushes are much nicer than childrens brushes. A also buy butcher paper from sams club or costco. It comes in rolls, the kids love to paint just big colors on long pieces of paper that I then use for wrapping paper. there is also a game called Cadoo. It is like a board game but more interactive. Some cards the kids make things out of playdo (comes with the game) or run around the house and find something before the sand clock runs out or mime something. It is very interactive and fun for all ages.
Good luck and have fun!

I might be responding a little late...but I hope I have a some good ideas for you. Check out Oriental Trading-their website or start getting their catalogue...cute craft ideas, birthday, holiday ideas that kids & adults of all ages really enjoy! I would have plenty of coloring books, crayons, glitter, scissors (ones with that cut designs are cool, too!) etc. You can go to the dollar stores and stock up on supplies. To save on containers for these things-recycle the big ice cream buckets, cool whip containers, other plastic containers from your home and then have a larger tote that you put everything in. Pull out the tote when you need it.
Also, I think playing cards/games and having hot cocoa, tea or baking something are fun things to do on a rainy day.
