P.S.
The answer is 5 children, NOT counting any of the caregiver's personally related children. I know this because I used to be a daycare provider from home a while back and in the process of going through to get licensed, this was what I learned.
does anyone know how many children can be in an in unlicensed in home daycare?
thanks everyone for the responses. 5 (not counting relations) is the correct answer I didnt reliese it but my best friend from 6th grade has a daycare in her home and she filled me in on the laws.

I was told years ago 5 was the limit in Ohio and that included your children. Seemed low to me but I found that many was hard to keep entertained at times. I actually had more that I took care of but never had more than 4 in the house together, Some were mornings only. Others afternoon and still others the full day. I had one child and he was in school half day.
I think it's 4 kids maybe per person..........I'm not sure on that.........but you can Google this.........Indiana child care laws ......and you get ALL kinds of choices.......
I hope this helps......take care.
in Ohio it's 6 i believe, and that counts any children of their own under the age of 5.
I've heard 4 unrelated children, just like Missouri. Which means that they can have any # of neices, nephews, grandchildren, foster children, their own children and then 4 unrelated. If it's like it is here in Missouri, they can do day and night care so that when one child leaves, another can come. That allows providers to let families share a full-time slot if they both need only part of the day or part of the week.
less than 5 children not inculding your own children.
you will probably have to call the state and see.
